I think EvilleJedi already has his list of frigates, cruisers and caps planned out (thank you Ironclad for raising the capital ship limit).
From what I understand, he is trying to balance the cost and power of several cruisers versus more powerful single capital ships.
I think I read in one of Eville's posts that he was planning on disallowing the free start capital ship.
Since this mods time period is supposed to be after the Battle of Endor, I am wondering about the tech tree. It wouldn't make much sense to have to research how to make capital ships...since it is already known how to make them. However, maybe the tech tree could be more about developing the infrastructure and building fabrication plants for actually making larger, more advanced vessels.
As far as Skellesi's complaint about the zoom issue, my only suggestion is you make more use of the Ctrl groupings.
That's awesome, I am curious to see if he'd be able to release an approximate list, it'd be great to see. The balances will be good - I was just throwing out my own suggestions on how to balance them a bit. Good idea on the research specs, too.
As far as zooming goes... it's not the problem of controlling the ships, it's seeing the whole battle. Jumping around from group to group to see how each manages isn't effective to manage large scale tactics. Being able to see the whole grav well, allows you to see much more and determine the tactics better. Plus, I like using macro much more than micro.
OH - a bug from the over-large grav wells, too - if you don't change the settings for the distances between planets, it's fairly frequent to have overlapping grav wells. This means ships actually travel into the grav well (in the case I remember most, you could go all the way to the other planet) and attack ships in that system. However, to actually enter the system, you went to the end of the first, and jumped backwards to the edge of the other grav well. And then recrossed the same space you just went through. Thought I'd mention this, not sure of how to fix it, except to make sure planets are far apart in random maps.
