What are you talking about? There is NO chance that the alien race from War of the Worlds is connected to the Scrin in any way, I don't know if you played the C&C previous games, but in Tiberian Sun, there is an episode when the Scrin lands at Earth when the Tiberium levels were only minor, and as expected, the Nod tries to destroy the GDI in their way to the aliens to get their technology, but they fled. Just like In Tiberium Wars, the last mission with the Scrin is when they overthrow their leader and evade Earth because they didn't expect to be resistance on the planet. They also promised to be back with more units.

Even the creators of C&C and the creators of War of the Worlds are not connected, the only thing connect is the basic shape of the alien which runs in the world for centuries. When you think of an alien, it will look more or less the same as C&C and other movies. Even in the game series of Half Life, there is a machine called "Stryder" Which looks almost the same as the huge creators from War of the Worlds.

You should look into it.

God do none of you know what War of the Worlds is?

It was a book originally written by the one and only H. G. Wells.

In it said that Mars was inhabited by a highly advanced subterranean race called the Martians funnily enough; for centuries they watched Earths development and became aware of its vast natural resources.
Mars' own resources were dwindling and its industry was stalling; thus in the year 1900 Mars launched an invasion of earth; sending an armada of cylinder like drop shops to land on Earth - the launches of these ships appeared to be green flashes in the night sky visibly launching from Mars.

The drop ships landed on the territory belonging to the British Empire first (being the most powerful nation on Earth at the time) and used the few weeks of surprise to use Earths own natural resources to out fit their army and build their giant war machines - the tripods.
Within a week they utterly crushed British resistance on the Isles; and the next two weeks or so the rest of the world followed. Humanity scored only two victories in the entire campaign - the first was when a tripod was destroyed by British artillery early on; and the second that the HMS Thunderchild attacking some Martian tripods attempting to destroy an escaping civilian steam ship to give them time to get away to sea. The Thunderchild destroyed the first two tripods and heavily damaged the other before reinforcements arrived and turned their heat rays on the Warship; destroying it.

After the 3rd week; humanity is in ruins and then suddenly the Martians all turn up dead. Turns out they had no immunity to the common cold and flu and it killed them.

And the War of the Worlds movie by Steven Spielburg is a modern adaptation of this story.
Changed to the year 2000 and the story is moved to America (the US being the most powerful state at this time instead of the Empire) and the method of the arrival of the aliens is changed from drop ships to something so completely rediculous it almost ruined the movie for me.
The came down riding lighting *rolls eyes* and the Tripods were already here buried under the ground; and they are indeed Martians from MARS. *makes a stupid face* But apart from that I enjoyed the Adaptation.

So I highly doubt the Scrin are related to the Martians in the WotW story book, musical, or movie.
Its most likely that the makers of Command and Conquer are lovers of War of the Worlds and when they introduced an alien faction to C&C; it was inspired by H.G. Wells Martians. Thats it.

Overall the movie was good; I just found a bit of the premise a bit dodgy.

I heard about the movie some time before it was begun filming and I feared for it; the previous attempts at War of the Worlds movies (in the 60s) were awful; simply exercises in telling the world how brilliant the wonderful US of A is.
I feared for the new one - I didnt want it to ruin the WotW story by being entirely focus on the US and the great struggle it puts up against the "evil alien invaders" - so when I found out it was Steven Spielberg directing it I was most relieved.

Theres a brilliant director. I knew then he would acknowledge the rest of the world - and he did; though the story followed the fate of a single american family it acknowledged the -worldwide- struggle against the Martians.

I was dissapointed there was no USS Thunderchild (that woulda been cool!) - but i really liked the Shield technology the Martians had in the movie. Brilliant idea that.

I just honestly cant believe that not one of these people seem to actually have a clue about War of the Worlds. Im just astonished. Really.

Aenar, sorry my friend but it was orginally written in the time of Vitorian England contempoary with Kipling and his world. What your confusing is that it was read here in the US so time way after it was published. Read the book you will thank me
