Sethpenguin:
Greetings from Canada!! I hope this finds you happier after reading these messages. I'd like to add my own two cents' worth, if you don't mind.
I'm a 49 year old lady who ABSOLUTELY ADORES real time strategy games because you can do so much with them. I love the idea that you can build settlements from scratch, send your citizens to their various tasks like cutting wood, etc. This example is from the Age of Empires series.
I got into space strategy game because I fell in love with the Civilization IV mod, "Final Frontier." It allowed you to do everything players did "on Earth" in the main game of Civilization IV, only out in space. I then started to nose for games like it. I found Gal Civs II in a Electronics Boutique shop here in one of our malls. I've also got the first Gal Civ.
You'll find NO FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS in my games collection for I feel that there's too much violence in the world already. There are too man people getting shot and killed, and I didn't want that in my games collection unless the violence was necessary, such protecting your kingdom, taking over other nations, etc. That's why I play games like Medieval 2.
Sethpenguin, don't worry about other guys bragging about their Wiis, PS2s, or whatever. We all know what they're missing, and that's the limitlessness of strategy gaming. The sky's the limit on these, and it's you can make your empire, whether it be on Earth or in outer space. It doesn't matter.
Remember, different strokes for different folks. Go out there and create your empire. The only limit you have is your imagination!!!
Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!
Sincerely yours always,
Indy.
