Hmm, so civilization was devastated, and all that was left were a few isolated pockets that then had to recolonize the planet. So a bunch of isolated cities that each had to grow... found new cities... redevelop the land from scratch. Gee, that would provide a good setup for a TBS game... maybe even a fantasy TBS game...

Well written, FB. I assume that this is the setup for a new scenario. I like it. When the TA immense galaxies were introduced, the first game I set up was an immense/rare. It gives the most 'realistic' view of things, IMO. Vast distances to travel, very few useful resources of any kind; and when any of these are discovered, they are worth fighting for.

A number of years ago, I had a wait captain that worked under me. He owned a big boa, which he named 'Julius Squeezer'. He hosted a number of parties at his house. One of these coincided with JS's feeding schedule. The stage was set: the Door's "The End" was playing, the lights were lowered, and in went the little mousie. It went about it's business, exploring it's new surroundings, until the monster became aware of it and raised it's head, flicking it's tongue in the mouse's direction. At this point, the mouse sensed it's situation, and let out a squeak. To this day, I can still hear that squeak. I have only ever learned one phrase in 'Mouse'; I assume that this phrase translates into something along the lines of: "OH SH*T!".

I can picture an Altarian astronomer, scanning the heavens for a new anomaly, and coming across this Armada, and letting out that same squeak.

Don't get me wrong, most of them are ok. I was mostly referring to the end game movies because they're a bit boring, that's all. I got the alliance one last night, and it just doesn't feel like a big enough reward for the effort put in for winning. Some coloured ships land on a planet and then there are fireworks? The end game movies should be much more epic than that. Think about the inauguration movie at the end of Starcraft's terran campaign (a much older game).

I know its harder to do a movie like that for a game you mostly play in sandbox mode (especially 4X), but its possible. For instance, the video could do with a voiceover about co-operation, and a bit more action wouldn't hurt. For instance, imagine the video shows a Torian freighter under attack by a small pirate ship, then a Terran ship shows up and blows the pirate out of the sky. As it does a much bigger pirate ship looms into view and launches missiles, and just when you think the Terran ship is toast, a big Drengin ship flies into the path of the missiles and takes the hit. Then both ships turn on the pirates and take them out as a team. Then cut to a Babylon 5-style starbase, which has several different ships docked to it from different races.

For the influence victory, show a human and an Arcean on a sofa, drinking a Korx brand of beer and watching some slaves fighting to the death in some kind of Drengin TV show.
