I Pre-Ordered...Without Questions

I see threads called "Pre-Order Questions" that are looking for some reason to pre-order.

I pre-order ALL of Stardocks games without question.

Top Quality games, no DRM and Developer/Customer interaction are all reasons why I buy all of Stardock games without any hesitation.

I remember pre-ordering SOASE and I didnt even know what the game was at the time, but it didnt matter because it was Stardock and they have yet to dissapoint me in any manner.

As a long time gamer, I have played all kinds of games and dealt with all kinds of Developers and no one and I mean no one comes close to the quality and care that Stardock puts into its games.

After Sins, i went as you did Scorpuiscat, head first into Demigod and preordered. I don't think i will regret that decision either

Stardock has earned my trust and with that I want to support a quality developer like Stardock to send a message to all those "other" developers that consistanly put out over-hyped crap and then ignore thier customer base when they start complaining.


I also like Bethesda Software as well (Elder Scroll Series), they do a good job with thier games.

Besides that, I never pre-order games, I always wait to see how the reviews come in first before I will touch most games with a 10 foot pole and even then there are developers who I wont buy any of thier game ever because of how they treat thier customers.

You do realize that in the case of Demigod, Stardock is the publisher and Gas Powered Games is the developer...?

I also have been impressed with how both Stardock and GasPoweredGames are handling the DemiGod game.

Yes I do know that.

But I dont think Stardock is gonna put its name on something that is not top quality. I just dont see it happening.

I get the feeling that Stardock is very protective of its well earned reputation.

I wonder if we'd care if we did?

Sins of a Solar Empire was Ironclad Games' baby as well. Stardock had a hand in the creation but it's not like GalCiv where they were the primary developers.

If you have that much money spare, good for you for supporting Stardock... but really, you didn't even check to see if it's a game you're even interested in? That seems a little crazy to me. You're going to get burned enough on games you think you actually will be interested in that turn out to not be right for you.

I hope you bring a more discerning eye to the Demigod beta.

There are many good developers and publishers I would support, but even if they are I would be pay attention before pre-ordering a game I don't know.
Look at the Need for Speed series: I don't like EA, but nevermind. Need for Speed Most Wanted was a pretty big game and I liked it, but the following game Need for Speed Carbon was extremely short. I managed to finish it in two days and I wasn't even week-end. Not only this was a problem, there wasn't anything new apart from the night, some new cars and the canyon drifts.

The situation with GPG is a little bit different:
Total Annahilation, Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander's Addon: Forged Alliance were pretty nice games and what convinced me to pre-order was of course not only that I read at first some of the previews, looked at the screenshots and watched the trailer and after that I was deciding if this game's topic is interesting/challenging for me and if there are alternative games I could play. I also like Multiplayer games very much.
I wanted not only to play these games, but also to take part in a beta the first time in my life and try to make it as bugfree as possible and test out the balance and so on.
Only after all of these steps I pre-ordered.

Although i like your enthusiasm for the game you are bordering on "fanboyism" ( i pre-oerder all of Stardocks games withput question) and thats not always a good thing. Just getting a game and not even knowing what it is first is kinda stupid but kudos to you for being positive.

If they don't know yet, they will when the beta starts. Besides, I had a hand in that tongue lashing too!

Same roles as they had for Sins.

Sins, IMO, was a grand success game wise. Some stupid stuff after release, but great game.

I wonder if we'd care if we did?

Trust me, you would. And since I think he plans to get in on the beta, you *will* know who he is.

Lets look at at SD's 'record' so far:

Galciv, Galciv 2, Galciv 2 DL, Galciv 2 ToA, Sins -- I loved 'em all.

PM08 (missed the 05 version because of no internet connection at the time to let me know it existed) -- enjoyed, but not quite my cup of tea. Then again, its a 15 dollar 'bargain' game that's 'pure profit' from their perspective because its based on the engine they're developing for Not-MoM.

Blind chance, I like dem odds! Given that I enjoyed the few games of DOTA I could be involved in...

Although I had to read all the developer journals before pre-ordering, I feel I'm in the same camp as the thread author here. I'm on my way to fanboy land, and don't really want to stop.

Stardock has such a great track record that even if I'd pre-order without even reading the game title, it is practically guaranteed it'll be a game I like.

And even if the game should not be to my tastes, I'd have financially supported the only big publisher brave enough to stay completely away from the increasingly irrational DRM schemes that have plagued PC gaming for the past several years.

Also, in my country, 40$ is the price of 6-7 cheap beers in a decently priced pub. That means even if I play the game for a meager 4 hours and get moderately sick afterwards, I'm still breaking even.

I play both Sins of a Solar Empire, and Supreme Commander. I like how strong Stardocks reputation is, and the great detail work GPG does, stardock and Gas Powered games are my 2 favorite game companies.

One thing I love about GPG is their trailers are for the most part using actual game graphics and arent just showing a video they made with movie maker. Ive seen many games where the intro has absoutely nothing to do with the game.

All I needed to see to get this game was 4 things:

Company, Who makes it, and what their reputation is.

Genre, RTS

Graphics, I have a awsome computer and im going to use it damn it!

How much I like the Trailer.
