Alright so. I finished downloading and "installing" demigod. Doesn't start. I try restarting and all that, and it just doesn't start. Doesn't run. Nothing. Pressing "Run" was virtually like turning a pressing a big button that was nailed to a plank in the middle of the woods. Nothing is going to happen.

Then I though, "Well it doesn't work. Perhaps I'll go into Add/Remove programs and reinstall and/or repair the file?" Haha, silly me. After pressing the "Change/Remove" button, instead of a nice "would you like to completely install everything?" it justs WIPES it from my harddrive! I mean seriously, what the hell; no warning at all? Oh and just when you think it gets better, I try to redownload the game. All it does is give me a half-assed error box that it cannot find the following file: "/"

I'm starting to wonder if there's a way I can use a program other than Impulse for downloading the game, because so far I hate it. After I submit this post, I'm going to reinstall Impulse too! Let's just hope THAT doesn't screw up too somehow.

Next time, read exactly what it states. Unless a dialogue box pops up asking whether you would like to repair the application, it will remove the application by default. This has nothing to do with Impulse. As for the not running part, I experienced the same thing and just hit run a few more times to get it going. Beta means beta, etc. By the way, use Impulse to remove it, not Add and Remove Programs.

Do you have a Logitech QuickCam? That software seems to cause Demigod not to launch exactly as you describe.

A well behaved and relativly current msi based install will ask the user if they want to repair or uninstall an installed application. In this day and age msi's are pretty common install mechanisms. At the very lest most uninstall programs (whether they be msi based, wise, or installshield) that I have worked with does prompt the end user to start/continue the uninstall process. I think this is the perfect useability issue that Stardock would want to do something about for the future for Impulse. IMO if an install shows up in Add/Remove Programs it should have the basic useability handles that all other programs in there are expected to have. If Stardock expects every last bit of program maintence to be handled from within Impulse it stands to reason (at least to me) that the other well known places for managing software should not show anything with respect to what is to be managed solely by Impulse.

When i killed the communicator_helper process the beta did start properly, before the beta process was created and closed again.

I had the same problem. I uninstalled my logitech drivers, then the cam, then hit run and it worked fine.

I know it has nothing to do with Impulse; but Impulse sucks in general. Add/Remove Programs still should get a warning of some sort. Pressing run several times did nothing for me.

Funny. I do. However I'm not willing to part with it, as I use it rather frequently. I suppose I will still uninstall the drivers anyways to see if it will work. This seems like a pretty abstract problem and I'm hoping it will get fixed in a timely manner.

You just need to uninstall the QuickCam application and Demigods will start. There's no need to remove the QuickCam drivers, so you can still use your webcam, just not with all the Logitech "extras".
