There are in fact absolutely no obstetrical situations encountered in this country which require a partially delivered human fetus to be destroyed to preserve the life or health of the mother (Dr. Pamela Smith, Senate Hearing Record, p.82: Partial Birth Abortion Ban Medical Testimony).
In fact there are. I am not a GYN, but I wonder who these "Experts" are and what axe they are grinding.
As this is an extremely sensitive subject and one in which I am not expert, I'll just refer you to the ACOG (The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) who know a good deal more about this subject than you or I or Dr. Pamela Smith(?MD? or PhD?).
In a personal conversation with Fr. Frank Pavone, Dr. Haskell explained that "elective" does not mean that the woman chooses the procedure because of a medical necessity, but rather chooses it because she wants an abortion. He admitted to Fr. Frank that there does not seem to be any medical reason for this procedure.
And the above quote appears as a "personal communication" with a Priest. They are hardly an objestive source...and Martin Haskill, MD is who? I am not a GYN nor have I ever done such a proceedure, but his name doesn't exactly rank with W. Ostler, MD or Dr. Reid or any really renowned M.D.
If someone suspects or witnessed a proceedure not medically indicated again I adjure him/her to report it to the proper authority.
To inject some "science" here: Please go to the following Link:

It gives a far more accurate and non emotional rendering of things, as well as the refutations of those supposed "experts".
Let's also remember just who signed the Act into law: You guessed it! The same incompetent (GWB) that opposes any and all science because he doesn't understand it? No: Because he panders to the Evangelical vote for his "Party"(and other segments such as opposing Kyoto and regulation and illegal immigration for his corrupt corporate cronies). Yet another great reason to change the system completely.
