What Size Monitors are You Using?

I've been using a 52" DLP TV for the past 3 years. Resolution is 1280x768. Viewing distance is roughly 8 feet - from a nice comfortable La-Z-Boy. Control is a Logitech diiNovo Edge keyboard and MX Air mouse that replaced my original Gyration keyboard and mouse earlier this year. The system works well as a media center (I use SageTV), general home computing and casual gaming. The air mouse is great for games like GalCivII and SoaSE but lacks the precision you would want for most real-time games. A second large screen is on my wish list - I use dual monitor at work - but probably not in the budget for another year or two. Hopefully by then, GalCivIII and/or SoaSE II will be out with full multi-monitor support (hint, hint)!

dell 2405FPW (24" 1920x1200). about to add either two more and put them in portrait (for 3600x1920) or two 2005FPW's (20.1" 1600x1200) on to the sides. the 20.1" monitors are a lot more affordable, but i'd ideally prefer the monitors of the same model, so that the colors and luminosity match. i will game on all three using SoftTH.

I just got a 24" widescreen Sceptre X24WG-1080P from Newegg for ~$300 delivered. It hooks to my docking station for my laptop, which has a 17" widescreen. GalCIV II looks great at 1920x1200.

I've got a Dell 20".  I like's it, but I'd love to have a 24" or, [pipe dream] a 30" [/pipe dream]

22" Samsung widescreen at 1680x1050 graphics at very high. I get an occasional choppiness but haven't played a big game yet. Just bought this game and am still learning.

Haha, time for me to upgrade.  I guess I'm the only poor sucker still using a CRT, eh?

Yeah, I'm using a 19", standard 5:4 ratio Dell CRT from back when they still made off-white monitors.  It's running a whopping 1280 x 1024 resolution at the moment.

42 inch Toshiba LCD tv at 1360x768.  I hooked it up in my living room, and needless to say I have not ever gone back to using my 19" LCD.  I really should sell it...

It makes me wonder if in 5 yrs you'll even buy a "computer" monitor.

i have a VAIO with 17" widscreen but i like to plug my 42" lcd i have in the living room wile on the internet......

I'm using a 17" CRT with a maximum resolution of 1280x1024.

Also, I prefer to stay away from widescreen monitors (why on earth is THAT becoming the standard?)

Yeah, especially when I see 24, 30, 40 and 52 inchers.   Right now I'm looking into picking myself up a cheap cinema screen to hook my rig into... not to be outdone.

LOL, 10,000x7000 (approximate) resolution? you'd need one hell of a graphics solution. perhaps submerge the whole system in liquid nitrogen.

Acer X223W (1680x1050) LCD + Samsung SyncMaster 750ST (1280x1024) CRT. Second being a 'testing gear' for specific compatibility issues with some art designs & color calibration reference. The LCD (even if that big of a main UI for regular use) is a tricky renderer for precision, catchy flaws (specially in Fonts) and anti-aliasing artifacts when re-scaling in most drawing programs. Plus the usual ghostly cornering variations of the TFT flat panel. Nothing i can't handle... so far.

Absolutely no upgrade necessary as i'm always using both from close_range_desktop_type situations.

I'd use TeeVee only for console thingies if i'd ever urge for some 'gameplay variety' rather than computing stuff, must be cuz i've had to hook oldy stuff like Turbo GraphX-16 & a full-blast enhanced Ti-99/4A!

Since this is my work I have a SAMSUNG 24” and on my LAPTOP HP Pavilion dv9500 a 17in which looks a lot better than my 24” but I can work in the middle of a sunny day outside on the 24”

A 24" DELL 2401WFP. And looking for better one at the same size.
Also a 15.4" laptop which is very bad watching a movie.

Both monitors have problem with motion and black is not real black..

Still wait for the OLED monitors..

22in Dell that I got with my computer. It's a very good screen size.

Nah...I figure you could just hook it up to a few dozen fan boat engines with a freon feed and you'll be fine.  You'll generate about 7,500,000 btu of cold air, but the polar ice caps are melting anyway, so you'll be helping the environment...while burning a train load of fuel and freon, that is.
