Over drive:
OK probably another brilliant idea to make balancing really hard or just impossible but how about an overdrive that builds up as demigods do certain things, so for generals it could be to use personal guards more effectively as well as just doing normal stuff like capturing flag and killing creeps. Obvious problem I foresee would be assassins getting a huge advance because their overdrive builds up quicker. As usually they would be killing more creeps (I assume).
Ok maybe I should define what I mean by overdrive first have it as a skill you actually have to add when you level up. Great! Another hotkey to keep in mind, also only allow it to be selected after a certain level is reached say 3, I don’t know really maybe someone else can expand on this. I haven’t really thought up numbers so I guess people will happily yell some at me after they have read this.
I was thinking it would be interesting to have something that relies a lot on timing and also a difficult decision to make. So when you first activate the skill rather than gaining xp for everything you kill or capture it would fill your overdrive gauge (maybe a new name is in order, well I’ll shorten it to OD from now on). Right well this is where people have to do the balancing, just how fast the gauge should fill, is up for debate as is this whole idea, people should feel free to say it’s an unoriginal awful l idea(preference would be if you said something more like: it would be too hard to balance).
How much of a power increase should it give to be worthwhile but not definite super game ender mode or if it was, should really take a long time to fill, I was thinking maybe generals could actually time when their able to start their OD, because it’s more tactical! Assassin’s OD could just start as soon as the gauge fills.
I was thinking once activated if your demigod dies that’s it no more OD for you
, suppose could have a small power increase as soon as it’s activated. Lastly maybe when its first activated it would be subtle at first, so that people couldn’t just all target the one demigod straight away to make sure they don’t get it but say by the time gauge is half way the demigod would start to get quite a noticeable aura that gets more and more visible as gauge/bar gets closer to full. Well maybe that would add more tension and another easy tactic to pick up straight away.
I was thinking that it should last 30 second cast time, which isn't too long but the power increase should be quite insigificant very good for rushing in and do some good damage to castle/citadel or at least defences. If people think 5 rooks all being able to get OD's would be stupid then have it so people would quickly vote on one person that would get the ability before the match or have it as random. Better yet have it so one general and one assasin on each team get it. Might put people off playing all an assassin team. I mean could have it scale as you got up the levels, so takes longer to get the higher the level you are, just like xp leveling.
Well there you go an unimaginative suggestion that might make matches faster or at least more unpredictable. Perhaps this is more mod material, this would be a lot to add. Well I’d like to hear what people think in any case. Also could always just have it as a on, off feature at the start of the game, so it becomes a matter of taste. Again sorry if its already been suggested.
Yes realised after that OD = Overdosing, as well but lets just look past that. I really don't think the ability should be called overdosing by the way.
