[suggestion] lowering death boreness

It is a simple idea: i think that waiting 30 seconds when you die without being able to do anything else than checking the scores and your demigod stats is just totally boring, especially for newbies that die very often.

I know that you can buy a citadel upgrade that accelerates the respawn but that doesn't address this problem.

A simple way to solve that would be for example to respawn the demigod in 10 seconds, but in a really weak state for the remaining 20 seconds.

This way you can spend thoses seconds checking everyone positions, buying upgrades/items, travelling a little, resumoning your minions if you are a general.... Nothing that change the battle, but that would keep the player busy instead of having to wait without anything to do.

ARe you whacked this is a terrible idea do not die then it is not an issue. Death should have a penalty at 10 seconds its cheaper then using a teleport scroll.

Also their is a upgrade in citidal to reduce this death time. Since you are so good at dying you might want to get this ASAP.

I think it should be like dota or any other FPS game when you die. You get to watch the battelfield and see how other people are doing. It will be entertaining atleast if not informative and the 30 seconds will go by faster.

-one if you are suffering from "resurection sickness" then no, it is not cheaper than buying a teleport scroll, moreover dying gives gold to the ennemies so it is not at all cheaper.

I agree at being able to see the items in the shop but not make purchases. I also believe that blur thing is annoying and would be an improvement if you saw only your teammates FOG of war because if I pop in on regulus and your low on hit points I could snipe you right at respawn that would not be fair or balanced

You should be able to see anything on the battlefield that you'd be able to see normally.

Gaaaah. People of varying skills are going to play the game. Being unskillful relative to the average should not mean the game punishes you with boredom. The clue is in 'game'. It's meant to be fun. Furthermore, any player, even the best, is going to die sometimes and have to wait around for 30 seconds not being able to do anything or even watch the battle properly because all the colours wash out.

I think the best thing that they could do is remove the blurr when you die. Yes it looks good...but its makes it very boring.

And you should be able to view items etc.

Could try a spirit form. When you die, you return immediately in ghost form, but cannot attack, be attacked or be seen by the enemy for 30 seconds. When this ends, you return to base revived.

Its only 45 secs max wait? IMO thats very long. Long enough to make you bored. and...
while a suggestion like "just dont die.." is quite a good one, its kinda hard to enforce it on players as player skill levels differ greatly. but if 45 secs is prob the best amount of time to penalise a death, then something like demisovereign's suggestion where this time allows you to do something constructive with ur loss of time, would be a great feature to implement. Thisll be good for all the newbies out there too.

when playing a game, deaths are bound to happen no matter what. if there were no deaths, there would be no advantages to either side. Its just a matter of lessening the burden of the people who do die during matches.

when ur playing a game, u expect to have involvement in every aspect of the game (even in death IMHO). Some sort of functionality should be applicable for these cases, even if its very minimal functionality.

not to get defensive, but when ur playing a GAME you expect to be playing the GAME at that point in time. You shouldnt have to occupy urself with something else (such as tv) to replace the boredom factor in particular stages of gameplay. A good game doesnt incorporate "boredom" into a penalty aspect.

i think that will be good at a lvl. At late game price should be insanely big because u could have too much money so u can ressurect every time u die = no penalty for dieing.

also i dont think they should change it because it is boring for newbies. Game shound NOT be balanced for newbies

why would being able to read items at a shop (not even buying yet, just being able to look at the items and what they do) be an advantage? The idea that it's more of an advantage to newbies is even more absurd. Let's be honest here, anyone that continues playing this game for any considerable amount of time is going to have the items memorized anyway. That's pretty much an artificial advantage for the pro right there. You don't have to spend any time at the shop thinking "wtf do I want to buy now?"; you'll know what you want to buy long before you even get to the shop--possibly before you even start the game. On the other hand, newbs will be sitting there for an extra minute or something looking at items. Letting the newb look at shops while he's dead might reduce the advantage you have from your memorized knowledge of the item shop... but that's a pretty lame, artificial advantage. You should be winning because of having better strategy and understanding of the gameplay itself. Your advantage should be more because you know which items are good for a given build (and hopefull why they are), not simply because you've memorized the whole list of them and your oppenent hasn't.

As for letting the dead player just observe his team-mates... well, I guess one could worry that he'll be gathering information, but really, anything he sees is still in his team's fog of war. He could have seen everything he sees then (possibly more if his demigod was extending the fog of war for his team) when he was still alive. It's just now, he can only see it for 40 seconds instead of being able to see it and do something about it. Advantage still goes to the guy who didn't die.

tl;dr: you can make the game less boring for dead newbs without it affecting game-balance in any way.

1. Memorizing the items is NOT having better strategy and understanding of gameplay - just means you have been playing for longer/memory and maybe have sat down and memorized a list item stats longer than someone else. Imo skill should decide who wins - not memorized item list. Not just that, newbies should not be put at a disadvantage just because they havent memorized a list of items/played the game long enough. They are already going to suck vs pro's, why keep them at that disadvantage? Let them learn the game faster. Easy to learn hard to master is the motto.

When you are dead for a long time - it can be boring. This game should never be boring, and being able to view the item shop will allow you to plan out your next item buy in relation to your amount of money and get more familiarized with the items making the game less boring - and also reduces the barrier of entry which imo is always a good thing, as long as it doesnt mean skill plays less of a factor.

I might just write down all the items and their info or print a screenshot of them so when I'm dead I can look at them that way...But would be nicer if we could view while dead
