Smiles @ you Ausvet....I love hearing about all the films folks liked....lets me see a more rounded person than the usual post...
I'll say it again, GREAT idea for a post.
Oh best believe me, I've watched that total experience Doc! It swept ALL catagories at the Oscars that year! All of them! Anything outside of that was less than an honorable mention. It just looked rather pre-ordained if you know what I mean!
My vote for KickAss movie for 2008!
Best one is "Cast Away". A real lesson.
Lord of the Rings..
300
Gladiator
Highlander
Blade Runner
Winner for Best Movie if you can only bring one movie to a deserted island!
Then, I choose only THE FOUNTAIN.
OMG yes,!! one of the most brilliant movies ever made!
Mulholland drive by David Lynch
...and I'm looking forward to this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmJO3ppLBsk&feature=related
Prepare to be disappointed in that one, mate. It's just a backdoor TV pilot, released in theaters to pay for the sets, etc.
I dont care if it's a pilot....I still want to see it. If a TV series comes out of it, all the better.
Thinking back on it, one of the most notable movies I saw as a 15 -16 y/o was 'Can Heironymous Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe and Find True Happiness'
It had a profound effect on me as it was the first celluloid production I saw that had full-frontal nudity... unlike the 'Carry On" films, which were mostly innuendo and implied it.... and 'what' a title. More here
