[BUG] Damage numbers don't diseappear

Every now and then I get a bug where the damage numbers that pop up over the enemies' and my demigod's head don't disseapear, this eventually fills the screen with solid blocks of numbers. Also the "Rampaging, Smiter, etc. etc. messages don't disseapear as well.

Rolling over an item in the store can clear this and cause proper redrawing of messages.
