Even more difficult to connect to games now.

It is even more difficult for me to get into a game since Beta 3 was released

Every time a new beta comes out, I manage to connect to a few games and I have had a blast playing those games. However, it usually takes at least a dozen attempts, which means 15+ minutes just to get into a game that wont last more than 30 minutes.

About a week after each beta, the MP lobby is mostly dead. I think most of us would agree this is not due to the game itself, but to the connectivity issues.

How can the developers even hope to resolve these issues by release, which is currently scheduled for April, when there seems to have been almost no improvements to the connectivity issues?

Is anybody finding it easier to connect? I don't consider it much of an improvement when it used to take 20 attempst to get into a game, but now only takes 10. Either way, it just takes too much effort and patience to get into a match.

So me and my friend.... I've never had a single problem connecting, and I have played a ton of games with my friend ranging from internet hosting to hamachi emulation and never had a single problem. But he can't connect to any game in demigod nor will his games go to the master list for games while it works fine for me.

u need luck! if u are lucky u can play many games if u are not go buy 1 million lucky charms and that may help

I agree, this is killing us and the game.  This should be priority #1!!!

Each beta I've played the connectivity has gotten better for me. I'd say its about 80%-90% successful right now. Not yet the level I would expect if this game were out of beta but pretty damn close, its considerably better than what the past betas have been like for me.

I was able to play a 4v4 game Today although most people got disconnected during the middle of the game.  3v3 was the most I got in beta2d.   So I think it's a bit better.  You just need to know some tricks, like restart Demigod after every attempt to join.

I keep joining games just to watch yellow/green lights flicker for awhile then i give up at one point :/

In ALL versions of the Beta, for the past 5¾ months, I have never, ever, succeeded in joining a game, even though I can have other people join my games when I host. (I enjoy a very fast and stable Internet connection (high-speed cable).)

Today we had a big stress test and were able to get plenty of 5 on 5 matches going.

That said, it still needs a lot of work. 

Here's one problem we know of: You need to restart Demigod after every game attempt as something is messing it up. If you do that, you'll probably find your success rate goes up quite a bit. We're looking into it.

Frogboy has recognized this and recently posted in another thread that the connectivity issue absolutely needs to be resolved before release. So I think we can trust Stardock to get this figured out before the game's release. The game is currently scheduled for an April release. I think they should delay the game for as long as necessary to get this issue fixed.

As stated in other posts, using a dedicated server would increase the lag time (from a two way connection to a three way through the server) and no one wants that.

Would it increse the lag time?  I know many servers that run fine without lag, RTS, FPS, etc.  Now you have the information having to be passed from many different connections instead of having one consolidated place to send/recieve information back and forth.  Is that more efficient now the way we have it?  If so, then cool.  I just don't buy the server excuse givin above quite yet.

Well, I have 0 idea about how on-line games work, but I play daily games like left4dead or CoD 4 in dedicated servers with great pings and very stable connections with higher number of players than Demigod, so I don't see why "this" game can't work in the same way.

As much as I appreciate a novel approach, time is ticking. I'm sure everyone are aware. Frustrating, nonetheless.

Hopefully one of the devs can answer this: How similar is the "NAT transversal" method in Demigod to the way that Company of Heroes handles connections?

Company of Heroes also features some kind of unique connection method that was supposed to get around NAT/Firewall issues, but this game has been plagued with network issues since it was released. It has gotten better, but it took well over a year.

If someone else knows more about the way CoH handles connections, can you please explain it? I don't remember exactly how it works, but I recall reading an article about it.

What ?!?! ... So when I was hosting games in December and November, with some users joining my games by the Internet, I was hallucinating ?!

I'm 58¾-years old : my memory must be playing tricks on me. (But I'll recognize that my "5¾ months" figure was inflated.)

What I meant is this : I've been in the beta for 5¾ months, and unless I host, I'm still stuck into playing alone against the A.I.

Learning that you guys had a swell stress-test with a lot of MP games going on does not cheer the significant minority of us ordinary Joe users who experience a lot of trouble with joining games.

This being said, I'm not really complaining : I like to play against the A.I., and I suck at MP against humans, so it's not a great loss for me. I'll remain very happy with my game purchase, even if I never, ever succeed in joining an Internet game.

But others might not be as "philosophical" as I'm content to be ...

Well I'd like to know why my friend can't do anything. Joining does not work at all, neither does his hosting the games don't even show up on the list. Never had a game I couldn't get working over the internet either with him and now suddenly it's totally dead. Could you maybe enable lan play or something, hamachi usually works better than any weirdo tunneling ideas or whatever it is demigod is trying to do
