At this stage of the beta, Assassins and Generals are almost the same : the first is a one-man-army while the second is an army-one-man. The difference is not very effective because the army of the generals are using mainly to protect them. The generals have the power of an Assassin spreading between them and their troups without the possibility to use the number of the minions at their advantages.
For me there are 3 reasons :
1 - Minotaurs don't have specific role in the army of the generals. Siege archers are building destroyer/support artillery (even if they need a small boost) and priest are healers/AA defenses. Minotaurs should have the ability to capture the flags (in my exemple, the capture speed for 12 minos would be 30% of the Assassin's one).
2 - To spicy, the general should have 70% of the speed capture of an Assassin
3 - The mitigation of slots should be available in order to put variation in the armies.
In my opinion, the result would be no complications for the beginner : he can still carry all his army in a block. But the player could really try some new tactics : capture 2 flags at the same time (a squadron of minos at one side of the map and the oak with his personnal guard at the other side), specialise in the destruction of buildings ( QoT protecting 12 siege archers) or begin a real damage-eater (Sedna with 12 archpriests : a real nightmare).
Just my 2 cents
