We'll look into it. Thanks for pointing it out. Would you happen to have any specific games where this happened?
Sure -
on 3/4 I played a game at around 10:55 pm EST. Fire-Ice and me vs TupacMike and one other player - let's call him "Furious." The game lasted 41 minutes and immediately after the enemy citadel fell Furious disconnected and we got the "Lost connection - Eject player?" screen. After a minute I selected to eject Furious, AI took over for the 4 seconds it took us to hit the stats screen, and the game was discarded from stat consideration.
It all makes sense, because Furious lost connection and we ejected him the game doesn't count. The issue is that it's pretty clear he lost connection on purpose, and unless we want to look at the "Lost connection - Eject player?" screen forever or give up on meaningful stats with anyone who know how to pull a cable we need another option.
Track Ejections? If you can keep people from ejecting willy-nilly this might be the practical option, because then when you see someone with perfect stats but 600 ejects you know what's happening.
or
If a player times out for longer than 90 seconds it counts as a disconnect and the game continues with AI? That might be rough for the people who legitimately lose connection, but 90 seconds is a long time.
or
If a player is ejected within 1 minute of game end the game is still counted for stats purposes. I don't know if you can do this, but it might be the best from a gamer's perspective.
Thank you for the info. I've let the developer in charge of networking know about the issue and this topic, so hopefully she will resolve it soon.
How about Favor Item Tracking would be interesting to see how often a favor item is used?
We do have access to that information, so I could potentially provide such stats on the site. However, we already discussed this and I believe we ultimately decided to keep it hidden for the time being. This may change, of course, at a later time (or if enough people request it
).
- Demigod statistics: A list of each Demigod with overall statistics of how players do using that Demigod, as well as how each individual player does using each Demigod.
Can we extend that to the skills bought? I'm not asking for what people used on a per-match basis, but more of an overall trend.
EG:
when people used Sedna they bought:
Pounce I 100% of the time.
Heal I 75% of the time
Heal II 50% of the time
Life's Child 2% of the time
etc...
We have data for the favor items that you can buy 1 of per game, but we unfortunately do not have access to the other data yet. When we do gain access to such information, I'll be sure to update the site with it, but at the moment it isn't available to us.
First of all, awesome work on the ladder page. Visually and statistically things have really improved and look great - though its obviously still pretty bug
Im curious as to how D/C's will be recorded? If a player D/C's how will the ladder record it and will it turn up as a D/C, Loss or unrecorded match in the ladder?
We have not yet decided on how to handle disconnects, especially considering the different types of D/C's that can happen. If may happen accidentally, the user may quit, etc. In games like Starcraft, disconnects at the end of the game are ok and actually encouraged; if you know you're going to lose, why continue playing for another 10 minutes? I like this mentality and have been pushing to implement it for Demigod as well.
For the time being we ARE collecting disconnect stats, but we are not yet differentiating between early quits, disconnects, and end-game leaves. We want to be able to allow players to leave the game at the end regardless if they are losing or quitting, and have the stats still count. However, all of this is still up in the air. I'll keep you updated.
hmmm, this is interesting - I'm showing losses for games I wasn't in?

Thanks for the bug report, I'll check my queries to make sure it's returning the proper data. However, considering T-Man was in that game, I wouldn't be suprised if this was some testing data.
I would have edited this into last post but it wouldn't let me:
I'm seeing more and more ragequits, which force the remaining players to eject the player which kicks the game out for stats consideration
Hopefully you guys have a fix in the works for this, because leavers suck...
As stated above, the developer knows of this issue and will hopefully fix it soon. Apologies for the loss of these games' stats.
I hope they straight up reset the ladder on launch. It would be very daunting to see someone with 200 wins 2 hours after the game "released" and would discourage people from playing quite easily...
Not to mention this beta has losses that could be accounted for imbalances, disconnects, etc.
Don't wanna see a hit to my stats because someone decided they didn't wanna play anymore.
No worries, we definitely plan on resetting everything before launch. Or at least, I'll be fighting to do so
Suggestion: Cross - listed stats - Find all games that have any two players. For extra credit: any three players
That way a person can see if they ever played another person and what the results were.....
Good idea, I'll see about implementing it. Thank you for the suggestion!
In top players in tournaments would like to see if player was playing for light or dark
Fire-ice it has been mentioned before that all tables will be cleared on game release
Yes, having which team the player was on is an important statistic, I'll be sure to add it. Thank you for the suggestion.
I was actually planning to make a post on this topic and the changes I tjhought needed to be made. Might help if this was shifted to Dev Diary folder. Anyways, I have a few suggestions/bugs:
1) I would absolutely love to click on a game in my list and see the stats shown at victory. I want to see stats and awards both listed.
2) I couple games on my list don't have me as a player, for example:
4
3/6/2009 4:29:45 PM
Skirmish
These errors curently account for 4 of my loses.
3) Forces of Dark don't always show player, instead they are listed under forces of light.
1. As stated above, we unfortunately do not have access to those end-game stats that Demigod returns at this time.
2. Also as stated above, I'll be looking into my queries to see what the issue is. Did someone quit in this game at any time?
3. I noticed the Forces of Darkness players not always appearing, but I did not realize that they were appearing under Forces of Light. How sure are you of this?
