I'm sure the developers are tired of seeing titles of posts that demand release dates, demo dates, DoTA or LoL Relevance and Class balance demands, so I'm making my own thread that's completely different from the entire first page of forum posts.
I LOVE DEMIGOD
I read about demigod a very long time ago, watched the first trailer and was largely addicted to Supreme commander and Sins of a Solar empire so I figured pre-ordering the game and getting into the beta would be a wise investment of my entertainment fund, and not once have I ever regretted that decision.
I never played DoTa, so when I was emailed a few months later and downloaded the game, I don't think I've ever been so confused in the first 5 minutes of a game in my life, (Well, maybe with X-Com!). By the end of the first match, despite me knowing full well the very first game is of course going to be the most fun, I knew Demigod had something special. For the next.. geez how long has it been since beta 1-A? 6 months? I spent the entire time doing bot stomps and progressively forcing all of my closest gaming friends to preorder the game and join me, and one after another they all quickly came to the same conclusion I did... that Demigod was probably one of the best new games they've played in a long time.
I was at first really intimidated to try the PvP here. I know there's a lot of experienced DoTa players and players from other strategy games where skill is measured in clicks per second or some other silly nonsense, but after the past couple weeks, I've come to love the PvP in this game so much more than in most other games. I guess you could say the game is rather basic when it comes to the fighting. You have your snares, your burst, your heals and your buffs.. but that doesn't stop the game from being incredibly exciting. I've never screamed harder on Ventrilo when seeing Rook's hammer slam that would have 100% wiped my TB away get interrupted by an Oak repentance, or watch a team mate Regulus Snipe the unclean beast who ran away at the last 5% of his health. This game gets you vocal, and no matter how well you think you know your DG, you can almost always learn a new way to play him.
I think Stardock has one hell of a hit title on their hands here, and frankly I don't care what anyone else says. I've already done my own experiment.. I've managed to get over 6 friends hooked to this game and I'm sure there are many more I could convince if I could be bothered. I will be doing my fair share of promoting this game on my community's forums, and I'm sure a lot of you guys will as well.
Kudos to Stardock and anyone else working on this marvel of a game. Take your time with it, get the connectivity to work even better, throw in a few more maps.. and you have yourselves yet another huge hit that I am not ashamed to say I spend entire nights playing.
Disclaimer: Rasgriz is a huge fanboi, and he's not afraid to say it. Quality game development is hard to find and the developers here far exceeded my expectations of what a Beta test can be.
