It depends a bit on your playstyle.
I think I'll tenatively recommend Oak, since he is pretty tough, can heal, and has an ability that if he dies, you go into a super revenge mode temporarily. He doesn't have any gaping weaknesses.
Rook is probably the most noob friendly.
I'd recommend playing single player with all of them and finding out which one you like.
