And I have a gut feeling that, if you barely(or not at all, as above) meet the _minimum_ requirements, you can't really expect it to run flawlessly if you turn every detail setting to max, usually that sort of minimum requirements are for running the game playably, yet it probably wont apply if you try to cram up 16xQ at widescreen resolutions with highest fidelity presets on a several years old GPU.

I think that, you can get a 7600GT for really cheap these days, by the way. It should be enough to run the game at SOME settings. Go look on a website like overclockers.co.uk or the-egg

Now with some further thought, I'd also suggest that you try updating to the latest NVIDIA drivers at http://nvidia.com , won't cost you anything so it's worth a try. Try running it at something like 1024x768 resolution with lowest possible detail settings, and go from there

I still insist, that you try the driver update maneuver and report back here. If you have old drivers(more than a few months old) it's entirely possible that the performance issue directly propagates from just that. The newest NVIDIA forceware is 182.50, which you should download, then uninstall your former drivers, run driversweeper, run ccleaner and then install the new drivers.

I suspect that, the whole framerate being the same debacle propagates from frustration(no offense), as it would make less sense than hebrew otherwise.

Post here with the results after you've installed the new drivers and tried to run the game at the very, minimum of the minimum settings with zero antialiasing, and forced no-filtering for textures through the nvidia control panel.

If you're only moving up one generation, you're going to need to go with a mid-upper range card in that series. Going from a 6600 to a 7200 would actually be a significant downgrade.

I would suggest going with a ati hd4850  it can be found online for $130 USD,  or look at the benchmarks on the ATI HD4830($80 USD) don't know much about it but it can't be terrible.  I do know however that converting to euros will be over your current 30 eur but not by a tremendous amount.

If you plan on going high end I would take a look at the nvidia cards though~ but they will cost you an arm, a leg, and a lung.  Though it is worth the investment especially since you will be future proofed.  Would also suggest you check if your motherboard supports the AMD64 X2 CPU's, if it does you might be best getting a cheap 2ghz+ dual core AMD cpu.

I am telling you though invest in beefy hardware, let the wife and children go hungry for a bit.  When your playing demigod at 1920x1200 with maxed out graphics you will be in a true nirvana greater then sex.  Ok fine I lied, sex first then the game .

Definately, this is the type of game where your CPU is important.  As with most RTS games where tons of units each with their own AI routine need.  Or games with mere programmers like Saints Row 2, where they fail to optimize code thus making CPU usage more than it should be.

Hell even on my beefy machine some CPU intensive games don't run as smooth as they should.  This game does not though~ which is great even on max settings.

Suggest you try the /nosound fix. Might be that the sound compability issue is your problem and not the gfx card. Put the line /nosound in the target line of the demigod shortcut and see if that helps your fps.
