Creating something unique

First off, great game stardock. You did it again, another great game. Now for a few question:

1. Is this game modible similar to the way Sins of a Solar Empire and Gal Civ II was? And if not, why was this not the case?

2. Is there any planned future expansion?

3. I bought the downloadle version, but I can not find where the manual would be.

Well, thats all the questions I got for now, great game guys.

1. They plan to add mod support. Don't know how easy it is to do. The maps are not easily buildable as they were made in Maya, I believe.

2. Depends on sales. Liekly there would be micro-expansions a la Sins. They already have 2 more Demigods that they plan to give out free in a short time and 1 year of free updates.w

3. Manual is in the Demigod/bin/ folder.

It's typical for most games not to have a long update lifetime (as it costs money for that team), they just don't admit it. The only time this is not the case is when a game is extremely popular (and thus still making money), then they just toss a small team on it.

After the year of updates they'll likely toss out an expansion for Demigod full of goodies and joy.

When you get around to adding modding support in the coming months (after all this calms down), they'll even be more from the community. *cough cough* *hint hint*

Wasn't complaining, just hadn't heard anything official to that effect before then.

(The "only" was more in regards to the fact that I'd never heard an end date from Stardock. Y'all spoil us.)

I think its more a case of they pre-plan to allow for a year of updates AND THEN if there is a sizeable player base(ie potential customers to buy expansions) they will continue to work on it. No customers = no money = no updates. All pretty logical really.

Look at Sins, it's had a few big updates etc - would have all come from creating a healthy fanbase. If a game dies in the pan, you're not going to keep throwing money at it hoping to turn it around. IF it's successful from the start, you can use that as a foundation and grow it. It's in our best interests that it sells well and we spread the word about it.

This game is not all that unique. This game is VERY similar to the Warcraft 3 map DOTA. that being said, I hope they can fix the MP and make someone on par with Blizzards ladder system because I look forward to playing this game for a very long time. I have prayed for years that Blizzard officially adoptded DOTA and created a ranked ladder but that never happened. When I saw this game on the new PC game release list I almost fainted. In theory it seems like exactly what I want. The problem I am having now is that I cannot log in to the multiplayer part of the game and from what I read the MP is pretty sub par at the moment. Either way, I agree with OP... nice ide, now just implement it please
