As a long-time Aeon of Strife player in all its incarnations and with a Clan TDA gamecount well beyond 400 games, I am very excited about Demigod. Here are some first thoughts on my Demigod experience so far:
1. My serial code didn't work and I had to wait a day for a replacement. This was annoying.
2. The music is excellent.
3. 8 Heroes is far too few.
4. Creeps die so easily and quickly, and there are so many, that I can't keep track of gold or exp while farming. It just seems like one big clusterfuck. I also can't tell how much gold I'm getting and from what. The creeps are so numerous and tiny that last-hitting and the entire meta-game of farming gold, creeping, denying, and last-hitting (that plays a significant role in DotA) is effectively made superfluous.
5. Not being able to see what items enemy heroes have is ridiculous and possibly game-ruining.
6. Graphics are pretty.
7. The most exhilerating part of DotA, for me, is ganking, chasing, or being ganked and running for your life, and never knowing what's lurking behind the trees. Interacting with your teammates is absolutely vital and teamwork is integral. So far I have yet to see anyone type a word in Demigod. You can just grind through without teamwork because there's no need to call MIAs, because there's very little danger of being ganked. In Demigod there are no areas from which you can gank and surprise your enemies. There's just the narrow lanes leading straight to the enemy camp...
8. Finding an online game is basically impossible. In fact, my game has now started crashing if I press "Internet." If I do get to attempt to join a game, it is an endless wait. I give the multiplayer an F. It's unusable so far.
Again, these are just first impressions and I plan on playing it more thouroughly when they fix their shitty multiplayer client and I can actually play more games.
