Wow. We've gone a long way into accepting broken games. The consensus on these boards when responding to someone who is frustrated because the game they paid for doesn't work the way the vendor TELLS THEM IT WILL ON THE FRIGGIN BOX is "shut up and stop whining". During a beta, it is fine to tell someone that, but not after they paid for the product.
I've been patient, too, and actually purchased TWO copies of this game (one for me, one for my son), but I have to agree. I'm waiting 8 minutes to try to get in to a Pantheon match.
I'm trying to connect to Custom Games and have come to expect a 30-40% success rate. Yes, roughly 3-4 time out of 10 tries I might get into a match.
This is bull.
So much promise in the premise. So poorly executed.
I have to agree, Stardock should have seen these problems back in their beta. Granted it's a waste of money to buy every computer set up imaginable for this game to run on, and every router+ISP combination, but when they made a P2P game they should have foreseen the need for proxy servers ahead of time. This game just keeps disappointing when it comes to the multiplayer experience. Right now I am waiting on my 3rd attempt at a pantheon game to find players. I have played Pantheon games with my firewall and router before, but it's a slightly higher sucess with my PC on DMZ, ports forwarded and firewall off for windows. It SHOULDN'T require an AA degree in networking to play a game, and it sure as hell SHOULDN'T require me to expose my PC like this either. Oh look, I have been disconnected from the NAT Facilitator again.
For a game that doesn't have any real depth right now, they should really fix the fact that 5% of their playerbase can't even play.
EDIT: I use Comcast, i have an Nvidia 8800 GTX graphics card and yes my drivers are updated. So my system is fine, I have done everything I can to get these Pantheon games to go off without a hitch on my part, and I have played before so I know it can be done. So why is it so hit or miss with this game for multiplayer?
