I'm looking for a bit of help tweaking my Oak build. I started off as a minion fanboy but recently have been trying things differently and have come to a character I'm far happier with, I'm looking for a bit of help tweaking my strat though so if anyone notices anything they'd change feel free to post so I can weigh out the pros and cons with you. Thanks again for reading.
I'll also try and keep the build as simple as possible to read, no need for a wall of text.

First buy: Vlemish Faceguard
Second buy: Mage Slayer
Third Buy: Journeyman Treads
By the time I have this setup the game is pretty much over, I'm already dominating the field. But in case it goes further I normally trade the 2 armour in and upgrade to godplate and I normally save for an Giant Belt (I think thats what it's called, the once with 100% cleave) and a deathblade for some extra attack speed as it doesn't take an item slot. That's a lot of gold though, if the games lasted that long I guess somethings wrong.
Playstyle:
Your role as an axe wielding maniac will be to be a supportive front line attacker. Try not to stay in the thick of the fight too long during the early levels and try to avoid death and unneccessary base trips at all costs since you want the Vlemish faceguard ASAP. Harass enemy demigods early and if they try to port hit them with a penitence so at the very least they have to run back instead if you don't kill them. Use your shield to get yourself (and allies) out of sticky situations. Use surge of faith to help your troops push forward. When you get the Mage Slayer you can turn from supportive front liner into all out psychopath, that thing really does make a sickening difference. In Demigod fights use Surge of Faith to open up with, the attack speed bonus stacked with Mage Slayer should have you swinging for the fences. Save Shield to block one of their big attacks or as an escape method to run away, don't use Penitence unless they're portalling out or they're running and on low hp, it's a great finishing move.
The playstyle is heavily influence by what scenario you're playing, but if it's fortress you can take down pretty much any fort in 2 lives if you want to be suicidal and take one for the team. Run up to a fort and start batting it, pop your shield up when you're on low health, die and use your sickly reincarnation to cause as much remaining damage as possible. At about level 14/15 you should be able to knock off enough health so that by the time you come back, it only has half remaining.
I didn't bother with souls or the heal upon kill until later stages because to be honest it's not really that necessary. I know some people may see it as vital but playing this role with this build, it's not. I get the heal at later stages because when you have an ogre/giant belt and you're killing everything around you the heals off level 3 are ridiculous, you can permanently keep your army and allies up.
