I know it sounds Cliche or something but I like it. The corny voice overs that say SMITER and the various other one liners are a hoot. Takes me back to Mortal Kombat 2 days. I love how they made the Rook a huge stone fella yet he has an odd cuddly quality that really makes me wish they'd make him a plushie (I'd buy 2).
I like the item system, its catchy. It would be super neat if we could make our own items for single player with certain restrictions but there is a copious amount of stuff you can play with anywho.
Now admittedly I haven't tried multiplayer yet but I can't get into RTS's with other people usually, people figure out something to abuse and if you don't do that too you just can't really contend (plagues all RTS's).
Indeed while there isn't a whole lot to it, I think that's what currently makes me like it. For what it does have it does it pretty well. I've heard about terrible AI and such but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. I tend to find myself dealing with some pretty persistant fellas who refuse to let me jack their flags.
So who else likes it? As I said in another thread I treat all companies as Indie companies. There is no real strong correlation between funding and quality. Honestly when is the last time a multi million dollar project felt like it had that kind of quality? (Not that this was one). I know SPORE was impressive if looked at as an indie game but utterly stale if you expected more than that from it.
It just seems to me like overal games are getting prettier, but the idea people are about as talented at the million or billion dollar level as they are at the tens to hundreds of dollars. For a fun romp though this to me seems like a beautiful collaboration of silly and nonsensical characters, voice overs, and mobs.
