Also, to the Demigod pirates: You probably have like 4 World of Warcraft accounts.  And yet, you have been freed from that game by who? By Demigod! And yet you can't spend less money than you spend in one month on a terrible waste of time, to permanently play a quality game legitimately, a game that took some guts to make? I know I would be afraid of Guinsoo or Icefrog suing me if I made this game, and yet, someone had to do it because DotA ain't going nowhere with its 6 year old graphic engine and bad UI.

I did download this game first to try it out. After reading about the company and as well as them not putting crazy anti anything software on it i went out and purchased it and i know MANY people have *reading other forums regarding same topic*

Reward companys that reward the user without putting a lot of sh@#t on their PC,.. buy the game

In short pirater's will always pirate.. HOWEVER most all pirater's will go out and buy the game to support good companys who care about the user.

Your opinion is wrong, then. There's a large amount of people on these forums who have admitted to pirating Demigod before buying it.

They could have made a global release date.. That would have helped a bit since the game is still 14 days away from hitting the stores here..

Not that it is such a big deal with all the connection issues and what not. But there is still the principle of things.

I too downloaded a copy of the game. I too payed to download it AGAIN and followed that up by deleting the pirated one.

Now... that doesnt mean I feel I have justified pirating the game in the first place, but to be honest like many new musicians are doing nowadays starting yourself off advertising in the "free" market that is our internet you tend to get a wee bit more boost out of it.

I hope this issue with the large number of pirates brings more customers overall to the game than it would have otherwise had. I would not be surprised if it does. Keep makin great games guys!

Well to be comepeltly honest i Pirated My copy 2 days ahead of launch well ... I was intrigued by the idea and the treilers (even considered preorder) but then I kinda looked at it closer and more carefully .. as in - its a new dota and wavered ... but after dloading it and playing on hamachi I was hooked and bougt it immediatly on realease .... exept I dont play it now because of conenction issues (spend as much time getting into a games as playing it .. even then I get a lot of DC with 1 -2 .. all players ... the usual stuff everyone is complaining abaut) and I'm really frustrated .. but its not like 'give me back my money' but 'god damit fix it already so I can play!!!'

The ESL had a little "quiz". The first 500 users who get through this quiz are getting some demikeys for Demigod. So I hope we´ll see more players online

I think the fact that over 100,000 people downloaded the game before it's street date means Demigod has spiked a lot of peoples interest. In my general web going experience most of the piraters I've come across admit to downloading a game as sort of a full demo - games aren't cheap and companies like EA Games can use their large budgets to produce a lot of really good looking promotional material and sucker you in. Take a kook at SPORE. Greatest concept for a video game ever, amazing technology and Will Wright as lead designer. I bought it day one, and haven't played it since. Somehow they managed to not only mess it up big time they also ruined it for their customers with their DRM.

Once people get a taste for Demigod's multiplayer, and the legit multiplayer actually works, I think you'll see a lot of people heading over to our way of things. Until things are fixed I doubt you'll see many pirates jumping ship. And frankly, who can blame them? As it stands, the pirated version of the game has a larger community and because everyones using Hamachi and Game Ranger I'm betting there are fewer connection problems.

Spot on.  I pre-ordered Demigod months ago, and as some postings elsewhere on these forums will indicate, I'm not at all thrilled with the launch experience (beta was more stable by far - go figure!), but I love the game despite its flaws and I'm sure it will be fixed. Not soon enough, but thats the way it goes.

But by not buying it, we're killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.  But I agree with the previous poster that very few theives will read this thread and have a change of heart.  We can hope, though!
