Well here it is, the 2nd part of my idea. Heck, there may even be a part 3 just keep checking!
Puppeteer (General, Force of Darkness)
Jacko Ternis was no ordinary man. Everyone in the town agreed.
The town of Evermore, compared to other towns, was relatively plain and simple. The people lived a simple life, and asked for nothing more.
Even before he could walk he had an undying love for his finely-stitched doll he received on his 1st birthday. In his cradle or on the floor he would grab the doll hand by hand and shake it up and down in crude representation of a walk, and speak the language only a child could understand, pretending that it was the doll that spoke. As he grew older he would name it Lucky for all the luck he felt when embracing it.
His love for dolls only grew when a gypsy group passed through the town. One of the gypsies was a puppeteer, and to the audience he performed the tale of the White Prince and his fight against the Dark Knight, using finely carved dolls to play the part. Their visit was short, but they had an everlasting impression on the boy.
Jacko immediately fell onto this with love only a hole could fill. Every day he would visit the local toy-maker store and learn how to make dolls and small mannequins. From morning until the store closed Jacko would sit on a bench and carve away at a wooden block. When he was done, even when they weren't the best of work, the boy would eagerly attach strings to each of its limb and head, give it a name and begin to act with it. It wasn't long before his skills as a doll-maker and puppeteer would rise.
Everybody in the town loved Jacko. His abilities with a puppet are astounding. He can make a puppet move, walk and dance like a real human. Developing flair in ventriloquism, his dolls were almost alive with life itself, but no matter what he did, when he let go of the strings the dolls would revert back to their same inanimate state. The only barrier to true life was the string and its creator, and Jacko was determined to remove that barrier.
There was an old and wizened mage in Evermore with the knowledge that goes beyond his mile long libraries of spells and arcane books. When Jack asked the mage how he could truly bring his creation to life, the mage laughed the boy off. As far as the mage was concerned, the boy brought enough life to his dolls and mannequins and didn’t need any spell to assist that. The boy thought otherwise and planned to steal into the mage’s house that night.
The following night Jacko sneaked into the mage’s house and began his search through the multitudes of books that lay before him. Every night he would spend in the mage’s house pouring through books and discovering spells that no man or woman could ever imagine, but none of the spells were what he wanted.
One night, as he began his search for the spell his eyes fell upon an old book. In all outward appearance it looked like any book amongst the shelf, but something inside the boy’s heart told him what he searched for was inside. When he opened the book, he was greeted with a mess of writings and pictographs. Even so, he could make out the words “…bring to life…” or “…animate…” many times in the book. This, he felt, was the book to achieve his goals. Hiding the book in his bag, he ran out of the mage’s house and didn’t stop until he was in his room.
With the hexagrams written and the ingredients prepared in the solace of his room, he placed in the middle of it his first doll Lucky, reasoning that Lucky had always brought him the luck he needed (hence the name) and of all the dolls he wanted to talk to first, it would be Lucky. With eager anticipation he began to chant the words needed to bring the doll to life.
The door to his room burst open just as he had finished the last syllable of the last word. The old mage ran in and screamed, “Stop!” But it was too late. The spell was invoked and before anyone could realize what had happened a burning black light began to gather inside the doll. Suddenly a burst of foul magic ripped through the air and sends both the old mage and the boy against the wall.
When the boy came to the first sight that greeted him was the most grotesque demon he had ever seen. Worse still, it looked just like the doll Lucky, only a disgusting parody of it. Rising above the height 3 times of a man, the demon gave the boy one glance, threw its head back and laughed. Smashing the roof off, it jumped out of the boy’s house and began carnage upon the unsuspecting townsfolk. Jacko ran to the old man’s corpse, shaking and screaming for him to end all this, but his pleading fell on dead ears.
Father and mother, friends and relatives did he see been ripped to shreds before him. Jacko clawed at his face and cried and begged the demon to stop, but the demon cared not about the boy’s plea, and the slaughter continued.
After the demon butchered the last of the townsfolk, he walked towards the blood-drenched and spirit-broken boy and looked down on him. He said, “I suppose I should thank you for bringing me to life, though I wished you’d pick a more compatible host.” He bent down and, with 2 of his many fingers, picked the boy up by the neck. “As a token of my undying gratitude,” the demon continued, “let me give you a gift from the bottom of my heart.” And with a laugh the demon spoke in ancient tongues. The boy felt his body changing…
Nobody goes to Evermore ever since the loss of 3 trade caravans. The people in nearby towns and cities all spoke rumors of what resides in the now abandoned town. Some spoke of walking life-sized dolls, shambling and murdering all they see. Others spoke of bloodthirsty mannequins, laughing and dancing with knives in their hands.
But what no one said, or knew, was that amongst all these dolls one of them was different. A small mannequin the size of a young boy with eyes wide and with a permanent rictus grin on its face forever.
This doll’s name was Jacko Ternis.
The Puppeteer is a general for the Force of Darkness. I decided that his abilities lie in manipulation and annoying the crap out of his foes. His attack is melee. Here are some ideas:
1.0 sec cast Whiplash – Sharp as a blade he flings his ropes in a wide circle, cutting all those in range. Deal 100 damage in X radius. Those that take damage takes an additional 300/500/700etc damage over 10 seconds.
2.5 sec cast Pulling the strings – Whipping out a string he lasses a victim and pulls him close. Deal 100/200/300etc damage and pull the target X distance to you.
3.0 sec cast Manipulation – Enemies of the Puppeteer find themselves doing actions against their will. Control target Demigod for 3/4/5etc seconds. You cannot move, attack, or use abilities/items when you are controlling a Demigod.
Mannequins of Life – When a reinforcement dies within X distance, they have X% chance to spawn a Mannequin under your control. You can control up to 10 mannequins.
1.5 sec cast Tanglement – Shooting out his strings he ties and trips his foes. Enemies in an area move X% slower. Lasts 10 sec.
As you can see. My idea for the Puppeteer is to really annoy the enemy. Abilities like Pulling the Strings will really tick people off, especially when you want to escape. Manipulation is a real killer here. Being controlled, even for 3 secs, is bad enough for any god. The options are endless here.
Feel free to leave a comment, suggestions, new abilities or what-not. Part 3 will come soon enough. Cheers!
