First of all i am still shocked to see that there is no editor for the game.You release a game that is obviously similar to Dota,it is not a copy or a ripoff but it is similar.Now knowing that,knowing that such a game could have huge success in the future,but not releasing an editor is in my opinion just not good
Obviously if the game will be patched and fixed,it will have a huge community,wich means some modders,map makers will join,that inevitably will make the game better.More heroes,more maps,artifacts and so on and so forth,you get my point.It has been proven countless times that normal people can make better things with an editor then that game makers themselves.By the saying,no matter how good you are,there is always someone better then you.
With an editor people for instance could desing or import heroes,maps,and then maybe make a youtube video with them,so that the community would decide if they would make it in the next patch,next improvement or not.
Secondly,as stated in other posts,make the maps firstly more flexible.Meaning add more stuff,i want to see a waterfall(on the map,where someone might lurk and wait for the precise moment for an ambush..,i want to see something moving on that map,some statues,some trees.Making bigger maps,that have small areas for creeping,like Dota has.It is frustrating to stay near the towers all time,while trying to destroy the enemy's towers.What is this?Tower hunt?Is this all?..such words as"gang him" can not go with this game since almost everything revolves around the towers.There are almost no neutral zones in the maps,small pockets without any towers that have some creeps,some flags,anything that can make a hero level up,but at the same time give the enemy team the opportunity to backstabb,gang..and so on.
Btw i know to much ranting about dota,but still make the map elevated,i think it has been stated before.In dota it is nice that sometimes the last hit,the last 50 hp are taken away by someone who you did not see,but has seen you.The fog of war helps on this one.Remember in dota when in the middle you tried to atack and someone from the top always could hit you better then you him?.
Or when you were down on the river trying to take a powerup and someone from the side who has seen you gave you a stun and then the rest of the team came just out of the woods and nailed you? that is what i mean.You are on a higher position,meaning you see just a bit more,just a bit further,wich means that you see the others sooner then they see you,that gives you an advantage.
How many times was a battle won because ezalor(keeper of the light) made some kills on other heroes with his illuminate spell.In pro games that does not work really well,but still it is a nice tactic.You are up on the edge of the cliff,see a bit furrther,you see the enemy hero who has not seen you,you prepare the illuminate spell wich can take up to 5 seconds to charge,depending on the level,and then you whipe out the creeps and damage or kill the enemy hero,all thanks to the fog of war.
For instance the Demigods themselves could have their own maps,so to say"their own habitat".The rook would have some deserted planet map filled with broken statues,buildings of the fallen gods,or his fallen elders,you get the point.
The vampire could have some transilvanian landscape,tuned dark with the Bran castle in the backround or on the map itself.
Unclean beast would have some zerg type of map,filled with weird plants and beast from his home planet.The maps should be more"alive",adding to the visual as well as the gameplay.Or if you want to go with the story,some sand dune kind of map,in any case some place of his own,where the hero feels home.
It would be nice for the torch bearer to have 2 different types of maps.Some map filled with lava,volcanoes,towers made of some semi burned rock that fire lava towards you,lava all around you,duno and maybe give some extra damage to fire spells.Or a frosty map with some cold atmospehere,mountains and snowy wind all around,gives the mage and extra 1 second at freeze spells,or an extra 50 damage for his spelss..something like thatTowers would be some icebergs that shoot ice and if you get too close may even freeze you for 1-2 seconds,but the same towers take more damage from fire spells,meaning for a fire mage it would be much less of a pain to destroy them.
The towers on each map would differ,some would be trees that hurl rocks,or something,others would be statues that fire lasers from their eyes or mouth,or just hurl rocks.Others might be plants that do not trhow anything and have a smaller range but deal a bigger close range damage since they bite and if you are very low on health,meaning just enough that the bite would make you die,they eat you up...
In other instances the "no minimap zoom" is annoying,i do not want to zoom completely out of the battlefield to see other heroes,that takes time wich in a competitive game you do not have.You click on the minimap,or you see on the minimap wichever hero you want,that way you can make fast decisions.But having to zoom out completely then zoom back in takes a few seconds,seconds that you may not have if the whole enemy team atacks,since such battles can be decided literally in seconds.
About more heroes..the editor could fix that.I saw people writing about invisible heroes,making references to nerubian or rikimaru.It is hard and takes too much time to wait for the game developers to implement all the ideas of so many people.But one must not always think of Dota,think about Tides Of Blood,a forgotten map of warcraft but in my opinion very good map.The blood mage for instance is a unique idea that i have not seen in any game,in any other map then in TOB.
A lightning mage would also be good,since we are talking about Demigods,how about some young zeus,or thor or something like that.Finger of God just does not cut it.Also a hero not seen in dota,but seen in other games is the Auran,dangerous but nice idea as i've seen,a hero filled with 1 maybe 2 normal spells,the rest are just passive auras to help the team.Meaning movespeed aura,or atack speed aura,mana aura,health regen aura..and so on,of course it could have negative auras as well.
The mods already have been mentioned by many others,capture the flag would be an interesting idea,an arena mod would also be intereting..just heroes,no creepspawning,no nothing,just heroes,a few random creeps to lvl up,some healing fountains and some flags.Survival mode would also be nice,something like enfo's team survival or fuza's....Defend the castle,whatever there are countless mods to be added,just depends if they will be added or not.
All in all i like the game,and have spoken to many people in internet cafes about it,they seem skeptical about it,since it promises so much,yet delivers...well not that much.The game in my opinion would be a huge succes,we will just have to wait and see about that editor,maps and many many more that the community asks for..
