ok so sitting there for ages waiting for a pantheon or skirmish etc to work i got realy effing sick of it.
tried the custom game part and could see games there, trying to connect to them worked once to the lobby, then i was dropped.
so i got to thinking about what was causing this and how to actualy check if its my settings or not.(i have opened up ports 6000 - 6300 to my pc since im lazy)
this morning i hosted a custom 1v1 game (1 person 1 AI on each team) and it worked perfectly 1st try. now i can assume from this that my connection settings are fine, so the logical conclusion for bigger matches is that its dependent on every single player having things set up correctly.
If one player has things a bit odd and can connect successfully to one person then not to others, how does the game handle it? how is it decided who will be kicked?
also is it required for impulse to be running in the background at all?
would the "half open limit" that was implemented as a security measure in SP2(winXP) mess with this? (it limits the ammount of ports opening and listening to 10 by default) i know it screws your bittorrent connection speeds and since the game is p2p i was wondering if it could be playing a part in the connection trouble since the ports recommended to forward are more than 10 total.
