For a game with such excellent graphics, I find the units are too small and too similar in color to effectively tell apart when everyone's clumped together in melee combat. I am always losing sight of my Demigod (I'd say Erebus is arguably the most difficult to see well). I'm sure I could see him a lot better if I zoomed way in, but I prefer playing so that I can see what's going on in nearby lanes. Is there any way, perhaps in an upcoming microexpansion, to provide more options for improving visibility at higher zoom settings? Experienced RTS'ers might not have this problem as much as me, a more casual gamer, but I know I'd find the game a LOT more accessible if I could reliably see who's who at a glance
Some suggestions:
1) Unique color palettes for the demigods, as different as possible from the creeps/minions that will no doubt surround them. I don't think a Demigod should share the same washed-out look as his minions/reinforcements. The Queen of Thorns could have brighter greens, Erebus could have some inky pitch blacks or trail red smoke, Sedna could gleam white, Regulus could have a golden crossbow or brighter clothes, etc. Something that instantly draws your eye when the Demigod emerges from the fog of war. I think this would also help make the Demigods that much more awesomer; I find their current appearances to be a little underwhelming* for epic beings on the brink of godhood.
2) Maybe a team color aura for each demigod? This aura could scale with zoom, so that when you're zoomed way out the demigod auras are especially visible -- little orbs moving around the map with a demigod at their center.
3) Perhaps all of the Demigods could simply be scaled up in size? The maps are surely big enough, even for a slightly bigger Rook. Unless size is too closely tied to game balance... but I don't expect this to be true, since range and DPS are all given by stats. Some might think Rook's easy visibility is a weakness, but I think the ability to easily spot demigods even when zoomed way out should be fairly fundamental.
* only in terms of their visibility while playing; the designs themselves are fantastic, without a doubt!
