The status of Snipe and Regulus Noobs

This isn't really a rage post, because I dominate Regulus noobs, but then again this IS a rage post because I'm sick of playing against incompetant Regulus noobs.

Don't get me wrong, Regulus is a well designed demigod and very fun to play, but I'm so sick and tired of regulus players that only invest points in snipe, proceed to lose, and then blame it on their teammates, or blame it on me and the class I'm playing being overpowered when I kick their ass. What they fail to realize is that regulus has an ability even better than snipe, which is called mines, yet they insist on sitting in base, sniping, and while semi effective at first, by the time I get a few body armors and my HP is 5000+, snipe tickles me.

Every game I play, there's some class, or some weapon that gets reduced down to the noob thing to do, and snipe is by far that. I'm great with snipe being a longer-than-any-other-skill-range skill, like give it a radius of 50 yards or something. But this accross the map sniping because I'm visible through fog of war bullshit has to stop.

By far the most noobish thing I've seen, although it was highly entertaining, was a 4v4 I played yesterday, the team I went up against was 4 regulus players. They were getting alot of kills early game, but whenever everyone hit 8+, that shit was over and we rocked them.

So I guess this post is a call for 2 things:

1) Nerf snipe: it takes the competition out of the game, and that's cheesy and noobish. If I can get sniped while douchebag is sitting at his own health crystal, fix please. Reduce the range, make it still be long, but make them at least have to make some kind of reasonable contact with me so I don't get hit with a worthless sniper shot out of nowhere.

2) Regulus noobs, learn how to play your fucking class: Seriously, whenever I see one of you only investing in snipe. I start LOLing, IRL, very fucking hard. Are you that lazy that you invest in an ability that isn't even Regulus' best killing ability. I'm not even aggrivated because you guys kill me, because rarely you do. What aggrivates me so much is the fact that you call that bullshit sniping a contribution to your team.

I think that might be a matter of opinion that mines are better at killing than snipe. Any half-decent player can watch for the graphic and move out of the way in time not to get hurt. Sure, it's good for barricading yourself in somewhere, but it's very poor as an offensive ability (against any half-decent player).

Sure, there are going to be players that use Snipe in the most obnoxious fashion possible, but if you play smart then it's not that hard to defend against it. Regulas is not an overpowered character overall, and if it's the "regulus n00bs" that you're so worried about, then maybe you need to reevaluate your own playstyle before you start making nerf cries.

Regulus snipe sucks.

Only Noobs use Regulus.

Snipe is only decent against low level demigods.

Then you conclude this with:

Snipe is not good at killing.

I agree that snipe sucks and is not good at killing and when someone has it I assume they are a noob. Snipe is really useless agains higher level demigods, we agree again. However, from that I conclude, snipe needs a buff at higher levels. I have been saying this since the beta. It has been a long time since I wasted points on it.

So snipe is ineffective and you own them regulus noobs. Yet insist it should be nerfed. Sounds like someone got sniped to death and is trying to mask their tears.

Indeed, snipe might need to be scaled to be a bit better at late game. Early game, Regulus sucks anyway. two words: Unclean Beast. The UB rock any number of regulus players early on. you will team will have such a level and money advantage that by mid-game, when Reg starts to really come into power, it is too late. I think Regulus is fine until late game, where he needs a bit of a boost. His midgame is excellent, and that is the only spot that could really be considered OP at all.

It's only been about a week, MP still does not really work, so we don't have anywhere near the info/input we need to even start balancing DGs, and peopel are SICK OF; CAN'T STAND; F'ING TICKED; SOMETHING MUST BE DONE; OP!; ect, ect, and it always seems to boil down to "they lost". And getting upset at "noobs" during the first 90 days of any game is like getting upset with all the kids you see every time you go to Toys-R-Us. Noobs ARE learning; how in the HECK is any person suppose to start ANY game and know how to play every DG to perfection??? It's like yelling at a kid on his first day at school: "What the HELL is wrong with you! Learn to read before you open up that book! GEESH kid, can't you even prounouce a word or two yet!!!!

Just to let you know, Regulus has an ability that allows him to see anyone he's previously hit for the next 20sec through the fog of war, this leaves that person open and exposed to whoever. So, if one Regulus has that ability (Rank 5 or 10, I think) then they just have to hit one retreating enemy while the rest of their team snipes him because he's visible.

But, I use mines all the time. They're my main attack and snipe is secondary to that. The reason is because I can boost my Levels early just by killing loads of creeps with mines, after that I start to mine trap flags to that the enemy injures themselves when trying to recap, this'll either A) expose them to the snipe with weakened HP or leave them injured enough to have backup make them retreat as soon as someone approaches the flag.

And extended range is the best for Regulus, that's because he can use V2 of ex. range to attack towers unharmed (not bad mid-game to harrase enemies, but after 2/3rd the way through it's great to just insta-push your team into enemy territory).

And yes, some people just snipe camp, and that's okay sometimes only if they're assisting a teammate in getting rid of specific enemy Demis.

When playing against a regulas you just have to figure if your health goes around 1k, you could get sniped.. so pack a healing potion.

Healing potions are important against ub and regulas to make sure you can retreat.

Snipe doesn't need to be nerfed. 1k damage with such a large charge and 15 sec cooldown isnt' that great. FB is more damage and half the cooldown. It's just snipe has a long range. It's pretty balance.

hmm i think 1 point in snipe in the beginning is a well used point , then you can use it to support people at the other side of the map (or a bit far away when playing on a bigger map) , might save his life or turn the tide of the battle.

otherwise i put 0 point in mines and nothing more in snipe , unless i just ding and need that 1 extra point to kill a runner

I'll admit i use snipe in the early game, but after level 7-8 or so, I start relying more on Mark of the Betrayer. Toss that on somebody before you face them and it's a big help as it really hurts the creep wave their riding in on. Also using maim in conjunction with the items that have attack speed and crit (slayer's wrap's or ashkandor if the game ever gets that far), works REALLY well. I only use snipe late game if somebody tries to run with under 1k health and they're in range.

If snipe tickles you then mines will also tickle you...so what's the point of comparison? Skill wise, a mark of betrayer+maim+range+ snipe build is superior to any mine one. That is because MoB can slow down from first point, while mines only at 4th point. And your goal is to slow down others You can get mines after 10-12.

I never said that, there is a difference between a Regulus player, and a Regulus noob.

If you aren't a good player, yes. At higher levels it takes better timing to kill a player with snipe, which people who understand regulus are capable of pulling off

Maybe I didn't clarify in my post enough, but again, there is a difference between a person good at playing regulus and a person that plays with regulus because they see he has the "zomfg sniper abilityzzzz"

This is something I agree with, snipe should do more damage at high levels. My argument for nerfing snipe is that it needs its range reduced to a much smaller amount, where the sniper has to actually be on the battle field and not able to snipe accross the map. When you can snipe a demigod while theyre in combat and you're sitting at your health crystal, that requires no effort whatsoever. Put a range of something like, I don't know, 50 yards on it, make them actually have to put some effort into it like the rest of the DGs.

I was on the the 4 Regs...

We lost cause they had 2 UB and my team wasn't very organized. VOIP would of helped a ton. Also becasue he is right they all would rather have Angel wings and waste mana on auto shots. Then invest heavy in mines if we would have had 4 Regs stacking lays of mines and pushing one side of the map with mana pots we prolly could have won. but 2 UB and a oak and who else was it. Eh, Reg is fine as he is. Tracking device isn't op. you have to scroll out and LOOK for a person mid combat to snipe.

Now 3vs3 Cat with all regs I've done that.

They all rage quit though
