Hi folks!
Many people on the forum criticize the lacking uniqueness of generals.
To a certain degree I agree. Basically generals feel like assasins with 1-2 Minion skills + Idols.
That comes mostly from the fact that you can play all generals completly without minnions but you can put some easy 900 $ in priests which give neat healing while all assasins dont have this possibility.
I don't want to say that GPG & Stardock did a bad job with the generals. I would rather say they did a pretty good job, especially from the balacing side.
No demigod feels utterly useless and the possibility to play the generals with and without minnions shows how good the balacing is actually.
On a site note: My interpretation would be that it's very hard, if not impossible to put both concepts (general & assasin) in one demigod. So I would like to see some generals be only minnion + aura based (e.g. Oak) and some other made to full assasins (e.g. Erebus). OR that everything stays like it is and every side gets a commander (as third class) which is only centered arround larger crowds of minnions under his control + strong aura & support effects + would take % of damage of his minnion. This commander of light/darkness should be restricted to one side then imho
That way the RTS players would get something "real" to play with and the friends of minnions but no uber-micro skills could play generals.
But now to my real concern:
Generals get 3 idol slots with no further justification (especially since you can play them without a single point in minions but enorm profit from healing priests or tower sniping gunners).
Assasins have nothing which makes them unique. Or in other terms: Assasins can't buy or do or get anything what generals couldn't (favor items excluded)
So I would like to see a further tab in the normal item shop:
- Weapons which have attack based effects on them (noticeable, but not too high) and no further stats.
- Only Assasins get the possibility to wear those weapons and get one additional item slot for those weapons (like the idol slots)
- Effects of those weapons could be lifeleach, %chance to splash damage, % chance to chainbolt, %chance of dmg dealed to minnions as well or anything like that
- to increase the similarity to idols which can be bought from startup due to the price: Make 4 grades of each weapon
That way would not only be the uniqueness of assasins & generals increased, but also the possibilitys for balacing of both "classes". This balacing would not be possible with favor items since assasin only favor items compete with common favor items (swift anklet!).
How do you think about this idea?
