Just got a couple of quick, easy suggestions that I feel would drastically increase the level of play in Demigods
1) I NEED numbers on my health and mana bar AT ALL TIMES- give me a toggle, give me a game option, something, anything! I understand many people are fine with just a bar that you can get a visual clue to your status but to bring higher level play, numbers should be there.
I know that many of you will hate me for the following reference but the similarity in game-style is unavoidable and it's a well known reference: In DOTA, MANY team organized ganks / saves / wins / what have you, are made by players who are very carefully watching health and mana numbers. Aware of their enemies capabilities in terms of [base] damage [from skills and / or weapons] as well as knowing precisely how expensive your skills are, it is easier to make clutch plays.
Heres an example most of you have likely had happen: You plan on using a 1-2 combo of skills only to find after your first skill that youre just shy of enough mana of the second. I realize a simple mouseover the bars would work to show you what you need, but in the heat of battle that may be asking a bit much- especially as a general who is trying to micro his units.
It seems it should be a very easy thing to implement a game option or a hotkey to toggle on and off those health and mana numbers (or for all I care, group it with the healthbar toggle on tilde)
2) Unit selection feels very clunky sometimes; As a general Id really like to be able to select my various unit types via hotkey for better micro. My suggestion: For generals with totem summoned minions (hotkeys 567), let them select that specific unit type with the same hotkey used to summon them. Should be a very easy bit of code
if unit_type is summoned then {max summoned then select units else summon new units} else summon units.
Also, I feel some sort of UI indication to what is currently selected, other than the VERY small (When zoomed to a decent distance) and somewhat elusive blue colored selection circles, may be in order. Perhaps a game option with the ability to set the selection circles color would be sufficient if it could provide very high visibility colors.
The best of all options in my mind would be the following: Customizeable selection circle colors for each unit type [Hero, Summoned, Totem 5, Totem 6, Totem 7] as well as a small UI window showing the currently selected units
3) The skilltree cannot be viewed while dead. I dont see any good gameplay reason for this- the character screen can be opened. I dont know how any imbalance would occur from being able to view or assign skill points while youre dead.
