Why?

1- It feeds the enemy Demigod gold and experience, and deprives you of ANYTHING.

2- It greatly changes the tide of battle, giving the enemy team superior Demigod power in number of players and weakening your own team by being missing in action.

3- a ) You don't get exp at ALL during your respawn timer

    b ) You don't earn gold at ALL during your respawn timer

Your 25 seconds or so of respawning could have been 25 seconds of earning gold at 4 gold per sec, at base (100 gold lost already!).

Actually it's not, if you are new to a game you probably don't really understand the consequences of dying, which are much greater than having to wait to respawn.  Not dying is a huge strategy in this game.

Actually, it really was the best bit of advice I got. My first games were distinguished by me charging in and dying. I tried to refine that by learning to do more damage before I died. Someone coming along and saying "it's more important to run away than it is to destroy that tower / DG" made more difference than I thought it would. The XP it gives the enemy, the gold it gives them, the cost to you... heroic sacrifice isn't much of a concept in DG. Everyone who picks this game up needs to learn how very important it is to not die.

Oh, and seconded on the communication skills. When I join a custom game, I'm surprised how little communication there is between team mates sometimes.

should be pointed out that getting killed by defense towers will not give enemies gold bonuses or kills unless they are close to the tower, same with reinforcemnts a enemy DG needs to be close. you still get the deathtimer and no gold while dead still much better the enemy DG dont need be in visual range to get gold so be careful.

timer is bad but aslong as enemy dont get gold its hard for oponents to make much of a 30sec 1DG advantage

I thought you got assist gold if you actually helped kill the DG, do you get it just for being in the area when a DG is killed?

Rook is good for everything once he has a few creeps under his belt

Tip: If you don't know what your doing go on the other team or don't join my games.  Rude? yea, but not half as rude as I will be if you feed the other team.  Fair and honest.

just need to be close when the DG dies, stand next to a DG that is sniped from half the map away while you are beating at towers and youll still get assist.

i dont agree that "dont die" is a good advice for a new player, reason is a new player needs to learn most people learn by actally doing the wrong things. im pretty relaxed about losing a game while i try a mad tactic if it means i will have greater chance of winning all games after that one, i may be slightly selfish but my own skill lvl/enjoyment is my main concern.

if i could give a new player 1 advice it would be talk to team mates. dont be afraid of telling others what your doing it never hurts if your doing someting very wrong chances is someone will say so. for example i usally ask team before getting priests/angesls if they prefer to wait or get em now, it will also give you some info on what type of people that are on your team the way they respond. most of the time it does not help but it makes the game more fun. teasing oponents you just killed is another classic

another good tip is to quickly killing minions so that you can level up easily and kick theother demigods.
