Hey folks,
First off Kudos to Frogboy for the daily updates, it has kept me interested in this game despite the connection problems.
I'm from the Toronto Ontario Canada area using a Thomson 585 DSL modem/router. I have forwarded the proper ports and I have used the port forward connection tool to ENSURE that all the required ports are 'open'. I have even used the impulse reactor tool to enable that second level of forwarding.
From Day 0, I spend about 3 hours of failed connects to get into 1 game to play it. As you can imagine... very frustrating. LOL... its a good thing that I weight lift while I am trying to get a game in... else I would have returned this fine product immediately. Frogboy's posts however have kept me positive and I am trying to give this game a chance.
I have disabled my firewalls and heck even all my Antivirus.... and still routinely I either can't connect to everyone (just some) in the lobby... or if I get in to the lobby .... then likely 75% of everyone who tries to log in after me... can't connect... and thus I log-jam the match.
Now once I actually get into a match... the game play is typically flawless.... but there appears to be a certain 'type' of machine that my machine is comfortable connecting to... everyone else times out.
Now the only thing that I can think of is that Bell Canada Sympatico ISP is throttling P2P traffic.... so I called them up and asked.... they (ISP) advised that they dissect every P2P packets that passes through the ISP and they throttle P2P traffic down by 85%.
Now my questions to the community:
1> Any Sympatico users out there having any luck connecting with Demigod? If so, would you mind sharing how you manage it?
2> To Stardock... is it possible for you to tunnel the packets ie: SSH tunneling, or encrypt them or something to prevent the ISPs from blocking, restricting, throttling Demigod?
Any thoughts would be helpful... I'm not a power player.... in fact.. LOL I suck.... and more often than not I'm sure my team would prefer to have AI on my team rather than me... but regardless I still would like to actually play a game once a night rather than spending all my time either Unhandled Exception errors / or log jamming everyone else's matches.
