I played a support rook suited for base pushing and early tower killing. And it went well. I mostly ignored what was happening on the map, although I got a bit nervouse at the speed with which my only human opponent preyed on my AI allies, but I knocked down most of his fortresses in short order before I hit level 10. Getting to the last one proved a bit harder.
Ok, strictly speaking it wasn't a duel since it was a 4v4 fortress match. But only two humans participated and we all know that bots are tossers.
That being said, my opponent NeonShadow_BLR first noticed, that "OMG, my allies are actually DOING SOMETHING!".
Well, they still sucked, but I looked a bit closed closer and yes ... they sometimes followed my lead !! Sadly, they did so even if I didn't want them to. When I went to that flag on the outskirts of the map, all three goonies followed, helped me cap that map ... and stayed there to guard it. Which was eminently stupid from my point of view since the main reason to get that flag was to divert Neon's attention so I could have an unopposed run at his towers.
And I needed unopposed, because in most 1v1 duels against him, his Sedna wiped the floor with my Rook. Ok, I didn't have an Assassin build ... I did Mixarians Demo Man build. But even so, I expect a little respect when I'm inside my tower farm with nearly 20k equipment and creeps and another DG as backup.
But nah, the nearly immortal Sedna charged in, pounded me silly, healed herself, ignored the armageddon around her and my pretty hard hitting fists ... and absorbed tons of damage.
Absorbed ?
Yeah, absorbed. I assume that Sedna wore the Groffling Warplate, which has a 1% chance to grant a 300 absorb shield. Ok, 1% chance doesn't seem like much, no ?
But when Rook has his Archer upgrade, how often per second to you think the effect gets triggered ? Yep, right. Nearly all the time.
So in addition to Sednas healing rate, priests, heal spells and god know what armor, she also gets that 300 damage buffer over and over.
So, in case you ever meet an Archer Rook in battle: Go for the Groffling !
Anyway, I overwhelmed him in the end because I could keep him from getting Warscore 10, i.e. no Giants for him. That's what stealing that lone flag is good for. Seed towers, go to flag (defenses long gone), seed some more towers ... and run like hell when Sedna comes.
My respects to NeonShadow ... I play a decent Sedna but I never saw anything like that.

VICTORYYYYYYYY!!!!!
