Wrong Language & No Voice after Update

Hello there,

I am from germany, preordered Demigod and enjoyed the game since the beta phase. There, I had english texts and voices.

With the release day, the texts were german, and german voices were installed, too. Nice!

But today, I installed the last Update (12.05.2009), and now I have some problems. The ingame texts are all english again, and worse, now there are no voices at all! Not in the character selection screen (the Rook and Beast have their (pretty international) sounds, but nobody else), and not in the game. No random sentences, no announcer.

Well, I think only the german voice-files are installed, but now the game tries to play the english ones, which are not there.

I searched for an option to turn the game german again, but didn´t find anything.

Anybody knows anything about this issue?

I think that this issue is due to Stardock and/or GPG removing some of the language features since the European release of Demigod is about to go out. Perhaps that is because Atari gets some special rights to the game in a certain language, but that is a random guess. I think that I read that the retail EU release is May 22 or something, so hopefully once they game is out, Impulse will get back to supporting all languages.

Now, if not, we are going to end up having to make a library of the sound and language files, so I hope that isn't the case.

Open up your game.prefs file which can be found in My Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Demigod (WinXP, not sure about Vista).

Find the block of text that starts:

[code]options_overrides = {[/code]

See if that table contains a line like:

[code]language = '??',[/code]

If the line exists try setting it to (replace the ?? in the above example to) US (for english) or DE (for German).

If the line does not exist, add it. It should look like:

[code]options_overrides = {
    language = "DE",
    shadow_quality = {
        default = 2,
        custom = {
            states = {[/code]

If the game does not have the German localization it should default to english. If, after this change, you still don't get the english text and audio, then there may be a problem with your install.
