[Background]: Several years ago under the light of a silver moon, a child was born in the Rivercove den of Lycans. Different from his kin, the boy was covered in silver hair that separated him from his black and brown haired brethren. His appearance was also unique as he looked partially transformed in his natural state, but this did not bother his kind. The boy’s mother named him Silvermoon because of the occasion. Years passed and his mother watched as her child grew in strength.
Silvermoon’s strength and speed became equal to a transformed Lycan, he was immune to silver and could transform into a werewolf at will and resist the temptation of a full moon. He preferred to remain in his natural state as transforming into a werewolf outside of necessity tore at his essence and caused him to lose himself in rage, once slaughtering several of his own kind when he lost control. This did not bother Silvermoon as he could easily dispatch Hunters and subdue prey without relying on his transformed might. Silvermoon had a natural talent for persuading his Lycan brethren and it wasn’t long before he rose to leadership status.
Lycans were hunted by trained humans simply called ‘Hunters’ and rightly so, Lycans in the past occasionally raided the villages of Koskuvn and changed its denizens into werewolves who ran rampant across the land. Those infected with Lycanthropy soon take upon themselves a violent transformation turning them into mindless beasts for several days. The ones that survive change back and are at the mercy of the full moon, often becoming outcasts and joining one of the many Lycan clans. Clans generally made their dens their home and sought to feast upon the nearby wildlife in hopes of avoiding Hunters.
Silvermoon had many encounters with human Hunters, always trying to avoid confrontation and negotiate for peace though mostly his words fell on deaf ears. Usually those who became Hunters had scars too deep and feelings too strong to be persuaded. The Hunters forced Silvermoon’s hand as he led his clan into war. This went on for several months with deaths resulting on each end. The Hunter Lord Tobias devised a trap for Silvermoon convincing him of a peace treaty late one night.
“How long will you continue this meaningless war Tobias? I will not cover the sins of my ancestors, but they are long gone and you fight against those who wish no harm towards your people! Your men’s blood is on your hands!” yelled Silvermoon.
“Perhaps your words have reason Silver One.” replied Tobias.
“…what?” replied Silvermoon in confusion.
“I do grow tired of this fighting. Let us forge a pact! Tomorrow, you and I alone shall meet to work out the terms of this agreement. What say you?” said Tobias.
“I am very pleased Tobias! I agree to these terms, tomorrow at this spot our feud shall end!” replied Silvermoon.
The following night Silvermoon set out alone to meet with the Hunter Lord Tobias, thoughts of hope and betrayal filled his mind as he traveled, taking notice of the clouded sky above. When he arrived at the meeting place he saw Tobias standing alone from a distance. Silvermoon approached.
“…you’re not alone.” said Silvermoon smelling other Hunters nearby.
“Of course I’m not. Did you truly expect an alliance? If others of your kind are this stupid we shall rid this entire land of Lycans before spring… though you were right about one thing Silver One. Our feud will end tonight… now my Hunters!” yelled Tobias.
Dozens of Hunters spring forth from the bushes and trees filling Silvermoon with crossbow bolts. Silvermoon only gathers the strength to kill four of them before kneeling in defeat. Tobias utters words of victory as he walks up to him, crossbow in hand. Silvermoon gazes into the sky hearing none of Tobias’ words and instead feeling a tug on his soul. The clouds move away revealing a silver moon like the night he was born. Becoming lost in its magnificence Silvermoon unleashes a dreadful cry into the heavens and transforms. The Hunters only had a moment to react before the Lycan leader they called the Silver One tore them to pieces.
Perhaps it was coincidence or fate that he persevered or maybe it was something else, something primal… but there was one thing he learned that night. In the light of a silver moon, he was immortal.

=======
Yeah werewolves aren’t exactly original, but then neither is a vampire lord and I would argue that Demigod isn’t trying to be totally original in its lore though it could have easily been. Hmm, I think I’ll stop myself before going into a rant about originality.
Let me know what you think about Silvermoon. Thanks for reading.
