Is there a way to tell if a person disconnected deliberately or if he/she got d/c?

Was playing a good game on custom and my team were doing great, and then all of a sudden I got disconnected and now I'm worried my damn stats are gonna suffer and people are gonna whine about rage quitters. Is there a way to tell if a user purposely or accidently got disconnected? So that people who got disconnected by pure accident don't get punished and people who do purposely d/c do?

Damn this sucks. It was a great game we had going, and my team probably quit because they got a bot. Sigh...

My router stopped recieving the internet connection, and so I hurried out to try and fix it within the 30 second reconnect period, but couldn't get it fixed in time. The DSL line is hooked into the splitter which sometimes get knocked loose if someone walks past it ot bumps into it.

Sucks..

There's no way to tell.  

Most people realise that network connections aren't 100% reliable, and they're even more accepting with the current state of DG's net code.  A typical rage quitter will have a VASTLY higher disconnect rate than someone who just gets the occassional disconnection

Also the fact your team had agreat time, shows you ain't a rage quitter.

now a hit for your connetion problem:

Since your splitter gets lose so now and then I say what my dead old granddaddy (may he rest in peace) always would say: Can't fix it? Duck it!

Sadly, no...theres no way to know. I mean come on, how can a game notice the difference between someone bumping accidentaly into the router....with another bumping purposely into the router...hahaha

Haha. I ment is it possible to have some kind of algorithim, that maybe looks at HOW that person got disconnected and then comes to a conclusion based on freqeuncy, time in game, and when that person d/c.

As far as I'm aware, GPG is working on differentiating game quits from connection drops mainly so that quits won't take 30 seconds every time. So then ragequitters won't trigger the 30 second timer and you'd know that way.. but only as long as they just quit the game. They can always pull the plug on their router or whatnot and then the game wouldn't know the difference.

Okay good. It's nice to see they are working on something. I know it's impossible to do this perfectly and it will have it's flaws, but something is better than nothing.

You can tell if someone mysteriously disconnects after you kill them (or kill towers and get their portal or something) that it was intentional.

The game cannot tell though.

Even if they were to change the rules to show exit vs disconnecting, they might just unplug their cable modem.  Then the changes wouldn't make much of a difference.
