I thought id post and see if others are seeing the same results of online play, and my interpretations of what I see...
1.) Everyone will show connected to each other, but will just sit there on same games, so cancel/try must be done.
2.) Everyone is connected, game starts loading. On average I load in about 5 seconds tops, but it will sit there for minutes saying, “Waiting for players”. Two times after that delay, the game will start, and all those people that showed connected before are gone, and it was me + AI's vs. another player + AI's...just two of us made it in. A few times one team had one player, basically people disappeared.
3.) Still takes 10-20 minutes to get a game STARTED, and it will be filled with the most awful AI that ruins the game, remember SD/GPG...I don’t click multiplayer to fight AI's...
4.) Only one game out of 6 had all players stay connected, spent double the time waiting for a game than actually playing
5.) Will show "Player has not connected to anyone", you hit eject, and suddenly they’re all connected to everyone, maybe a UI issue?
6.) One time I saw a game with a guy with [SD] on his name, I assume this is a Stardock employee, he dropped from the game, and it was not encouraging for the rest of us to see.
I know it’s been said time and time again that P2P gets rid of latency blah blah blah, but in DOTA latency has NOT been a problem, I don’t see why this requires any more bandwidth. One bad connection is ruining it for everyone and as your seeing there’s plenty of it, and even when people ARE connected it’s not working
I say give up on this broken system that hasn’t been fixed in over a month now, and won’t ever work, and pick up a system that’s been working for years with older more successful games where people can play without problems.
I think people want to start playing Demigod in a manner that they have been with many other games which is;
1.) Click multiplayer
2.) Click a game or matchup and start playing
NOT..
1.) Click Multiplayer
2.) Click Matchup or Game Name
3.) Pray it Works
4.) It doesn’t, so back to step one
5.) Pray it works again
6.) 10 minutes later get a game
7.) Long load screen while it says waiting for other players
8.) Game starts(hurray) and there’s half the players missing and you have Ai's to feed the enemy team(or yours) to ruin it, which results in quitting
9.) This adds a 30second timer because it looks like a disconnect
10.) Then have to repeat the process again after you wait 30 seconds between every player leaving 1 by 1
11.) Start over
From release day to now, from a user point of view, no progress has been made in the game and that is just disappointing
Now a few final comments
1.) I LOVE where while waiting for a game to start you can alt tab and hear “FIGHT!” when the game starts, if this is a bug don’t fix it!
2.) Aside from the multiplayer being dysfunctional, this game runs extremely well and I think it was very well put together
3.) A requested feature would be changing the online in-game nickname
4.) I would like to see some voting features such as vote-kicking, voting to concede/surrender when you just know nothing can be done to win
5.) Updates to some items, many are useless, such as some of the helmets. Many favour items are useless as well.
6.) Not sure where, but some balance changes. After the Erebus nerf Darkness seems to be losing faction wide now, and by a pretty large number
7.) Would like to see an actual count of online players. The Pantheon in-game shows lower/higher numbers every time I go in as well as “5 other players are current looking”. Is there really only FIVE people left playing at a time?
