I'm not a fan of the way the game automatically puts newly bought usables into the next available slot and they're permanently stuck there until they're used. I generally try to buy usable items from the shop in the same order every game so I can get used to just hitting their hotkeys without thinking about which slot they're in and wasting valuable split-seconds looking down to see which hotkey I have to hit. If I have a health potion in slot 1 and a mana in slot 2 and I use both, then the next time I go shop I need a mana potion, it winds up in slot 1. Then in a fight I might be hitting F2 and wondering why I'm not using the mana potion I know I bought. It can get worse if I had to later buy a health potion and it goes into slot 2 and I wind up using the wrong potion in a fight. Because potions wind up in different slots then I'm accustomed to while I'm playing I sometimes forget which slot a potion is in and I hit the wrong key. And possibly die.
I'm suggesting that a game mechanic be created that would allow you to click and drag items in your usables tray to place them into different slots. If the slot you want to put the item into is empty, you could drag to that slot and it would just go there. If a slot is already taken, the items in the two slots would switch places.
Has anyone else found this issue inconvenient? Would implementing this suggestion would be useful to anyone? Or do people not have a problem with the consumables permanently auto-queuing themselves?
