So there we were Unclean Beast and Torchbearer severely outmatched by a Regulus and Torchbearer tagteam that knew what they were doing on Cataract. We couldn't get to the lane to level with the effective Fireball/Circle of Fire/Snipe combo. My Unclean Beast partner decided to take a shower, either connection drop or rage unknown, but left me with an AI Beast and no chance to get XP. By the end of the game I was dangerously close to feeding a bully achievement
I aggro'd as much as I could but they had me dead to rights. These are the situations where concede would be highly valuable, but as my opponent pointed out as we were chatting, this could get exploited too easily.
Here's an idea for a method to implement a resign or concede option. I'm not a coder, network engineer by trade, so not sure how difficult it would be to implement but rather than telling my story and whining I figured I throw this out and see if it's amenable. It's not bulletproof from exploit but with our community we may be able to tweak it.
Concede - Purchased at the citadel after War Rank 3 or 5 - Icon White Flag
Can only be purchased by a demigod with No Idols or equipment, other than Favor item, since you can't sell those back, and costs all the gold currently possessed by that demigod. Once activated a vote box to the surrendering team, excluding AI of course, to ensure the team is making the decision and not some would be rage quitter.
Voice over "Forces of -----, have admitted defeat"
The team being offered the surrender get a vote screen whether to accept the surrender or not. If accepted the losing team gets an additional 10 favor points per member for graceful defeat, and the winning team gets an extra 50 favor per member. If they refuse for whatever reason then the gold is refunded to the requesting demigod to reequip, and no extra favor goes to anyone, and the icon is dead for the rest of the game.
Reasoning
War Rank - I originally thought rank 5 because realistically no battle should be evident of being lost before this point but thinking about it in a 3 v 3 where 2 of your teammates drop early it could be evidenced by Rank 3, but that would be rare.
Making the requesting Demigod divest all gear shows that a conscious decision was made to surrender and reflects the idea from ancient battles of "laying down your arms" and surrendering. Game mechanic reason is to minimize an accidental selection of the icon.
Favor points - For the loser, an incentive to not prolong a lost battle or just rage quit. For the victor, to recoup some of the favor points that they are giving up by not prolonging the battle.
That's the basic idea I have, again not sure how much of a pain it would be to include.
- Side Notes for exploit reduction -
Maybe include an algorithm which takes level disparity, war ranks, etc into consideration before the icon becomes usable?
