I have been playing Erebus for a while post nerf and have figured out a pretty damn good build with him. I am not the perfect player, but I thought I would share my build and strat to those who are curious on how to play Erebus. Also I am the plaer Hit_Boxes not Stone_Mcphone but my account is messed up so I am using my friends. Also this is not a minion build so if that is your play style this will not work for you. Anyways here goes.
Talents
Level 1: Bite 1
Level 2: Mass Charm
Level 3: Mist
Level 4: Bite II
Level 5: Bat Swarm I
Level 6: Poisoned Blood I
Level 7: Bite III
Level 8: Mass Charm II
Level 9: Save
Level 10 Bite IV, Bat Swarm II
Level 11: Mass Charm III
Level 12: Mass Charm IV
Level 13: Poisoned Blood II
Level 14: Save
Level 15: Bat Swarm III, Vampiric Aura
Level 16: Muddle
Level 17-20 Does not really matter you can either level up mist or coven its not a big deal either way
Explanation:
Bite is Erebus' Nuke and as such is absolutely imperative to have leveled up. It reduces armor and movement speed as well as doing its burst damage. It also has no cast time which makes it a great combination move with Bat Swarm. If Bite is the number 1 priority Bat Swarm is 1A, besides doing 300, 450 and 600 damage it moves you in and out of combat without having to worry about mines or being run down by another demigod. It is also an amazing farming tool as it auto kills any creep under a catapault that is in the path of the move. Mass Charm is another very important part of this build as the stun can either stop another demigod from using and ability, stop them from teleporting, or simply slow them down for your friends to come help finish him off. Posioned blood is there for the health per second it adds, and Muddle and Vampiric aura are fun additions but just kind of icing on the cake.
Strategy:
Levels 1-4:
Level and mostly stay out of combat. Until you reach level 4 the damage output you have is just awful and unless the other person has no idea what they are doing you will not be able to kill them in time to stop them from retreating, or they will kill you. Once you get Bite II you can be a bit more aggressive, but the fun does not really start until level 5. Also a quick note on Bite, try to use it after your opponent has done some damage to you so the heal actually helps you and is not irrelevant.
Levels 5-9:
Now that you have Bat Swarm you can become VERY aggressive as long as you are smart about it. Because of the instant and invulnarable movement that it provides you can get away with following past towers and Bat Swarm back. I tend to use caution with Bat Swarm in the early stages because it uses a lot of mana and I prefer to keep it as my trump card to get away safely since it only does 300 damage at this point. If played properly with the combination of mist (removes all debuffs and makes you invulnarable while draining mana per second) and Bat Swarm you should almost never die.
Levels 10-20
Bat Swarm II basically doubles the radius that you can fly through and this is really what will make you a killing machine basically unable to die. The two moves put together now do 1175 damage instantly until level 15 when then do 1300. At this point you should have plenty of mana (items soon to be explained) and because of that can unleash a devastating combo. From basically out of another demigod's sight you can Bat Swarm+Bite+Mass Charm, this will all happen in about 1.2 seconds if done right because Bite is instant and mass charm is a 1 second cast. The other great thing about this combo is that is is the second highest one two punch as far as overall effectiveness goes that I can think of just behind Sedna's pounce and Heal. Batswarm+Bite=2150 damage+healing combined and Pounce+Heal=2700 damage+healing combined.
Item Progression:
The reason I have chosen these Items is because I feel they give a good balance of health mana and dps. The overall idea to this style is to have a large amount of health so that you have the advantage in a fight, as well as are less likely to become a focus target. The mana is important for both killing others and getting yourself out of sticky situations.
Starting Items: Combat Healing Potion x1 Scroll of Teleportation x1 and Banded Armor
Favor Item: Blood of The Fallen- +800 Hp +5 Hp per second: I know people have hteir favorite favor item but Bat Swarm makes the swift anklet irrelevant and I find the more Hp you have the better.
Item 2: 1750g Vlemish Facegaurd-1050 Mana +11 Mana per second: This item will really help with your mana pool because before this item your are limited to 2 bites before needing more mana
Item 3: 1500g Unbreakable Boots- 600 Hp +5 Hp per second 800 Mana: Best value item I have found so far, gives another good Hp boost as well as giving you your base mana pool for the rest of the game
Item 4: 1000g Boots of Speed- +10% Movement Speed- everyone gets them so until you do it will be hard to stay with enemy demigods retreating from you.
Item 5: 4250g Heart of Life- restores 3000 Hp and Mana every on activation as long as you take no damage(it has some passive stuff but I dont rememebr because you get it for the ability) 30 second cooldown- This item is amazing because it keeps you from needing to go back to the health crystel and works well by bat moving away and activating it. It can also be used with good timing to not die to snipes and get you the one tick of mana you need for an ability to kill someone or save yourself.
Item 6: 3300g Slayer's Wraps- +10 Hp per second and a chance to crit- the big thing here is the crit, it will significantly increase your dps
Item 6.5: Some people were complaining about mana use and after playinga bit more I can see where that would be an issue. Feel free to get another helm like Plenor Battlecrown before saving up for the big items.
Item 7: 10000g/8000g/18000g Godplate/Mageslayer/Ashkander- As you can see ther are options here, the Godplate gives you another 1000 Hp and 20 Hp per second as well as some armor and is the item i usually get in this slot, however there are some times that it is wise to get the others. For example if you are playing against a good Queen of Thorns you will need to get Mageslayer or Ashkander to really get any good damage through the Bramble Shield. Ashkander is 10000g more, so only get that if the money is flowing, but if you can get it you will be happy as it is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Mageslayer. Also at this point you have your essentials so feel free to help upgrade the citadel as need be.
Overall Tips and Strategies:
The way I play this game your priorites are as follows in order of importance:
DO NOT DIE- Dying gives the other team money and levels so they can buy items and keep killing you more. Exchanging is not smart because while you are dead other peopel are leveling and getting more gold form killing creeps and your partners
Save your teammates- As Erebus you have 3 skills that can save an ally, Mass Charm is the biggest one to sun others and allow your ally to run to safety, and can be used with Bat Swarm to save your friend from a distance. As well as Bite because of its 25% movement speed reduction, do not underestimate how much that helps your buddy and your buddy dying is just as lethal to your team as you dying.
Kill other Demigods- You get money and levels to buy items to kill people again...pretty self explanitory
Creep Control- Once the other team gets priests their creeps will have a major advantage over yours. Hopefully you have the Heart of Life by this point and can Bat Swarm to your hearts delight and get great EXP and gold. Because you have such an wasy way to kill creeps it is good for you to do this often and keep your towers safe. This is ESPECIALLY important once the other team gets Catapaults.
Flag Control- Pretty simple at the beginning...try to get flags for both experience and their benefits. DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT attempt to take a flag from another team if you do not have time to fully cap it. This will give you minial experience and give the enemy tons. Also late game once your team has Catapaults and or Giants you can Bat Swarm in to your opponents base on most maps and cap their protals (use a caps lock) which is a devastating blow to the other team.
Kill Strategies-
First of all do not in any circumstance try to 1v1 a good Unclean beast late game, he simply scales too well with the items and dishes out more pain than you might think. Sedna is also a lame fight because it will go on forever with no winner.
The Squishy Eater- Anyone with under 3000 Hp after level 10 should be someoen you become friends with real fast. With Bite Bat Swarm and Mass Charm you should be able to kill them EASILY especially with the Slayer Wraps. One note on using the Bat move...When using it to engage always try to land on the side of the map closer to the opponents base. This way he has to retreat through you and is doing it 25% slower since you just bit him. This will give you a few extra swings.
The Vulture- look for a 1v1 fight that an ally is having with an enemy. Chances are the enemy is not paying attention to you halfway across the map and you can do the 3 move combo that will almost always lead to his death. Apparently from what peopel have told me I do this all the time and quite frankly it works very well.
The Sneaky Stunner- Most peopel do not realize you have a 3 second stun around at level 12 and will follow you in to your base if they smell blood. Lure them in to your tower fire and stun the crap out of them, this will usually turn the fight in your favor and if not then just Bat Swarm away to the safety of your crystal.
Survival Tips:
So as I said before the biggest thing about being a good Erebus player is never dying. Quite frankly after level 5 there is no excuse to do so. The biggest determining factor on whether you will live or die has to do with how you use mist and Bat Swarm. I usually use mist under 2 circumstances.
Removing a Debuff- Mark of the Betrayer from Reg(this remoces it without the effect), Tracking Device from Reg(Reg will no longer be able to see you through the fog of war) Spit from Unclean Beast(do this instantly to negate a huge chunk of his damage),and any others I am forgetting
Crap Bat Swarm is on cooldown- Well you picked a fight that you are not winning...wait I used bat swarm to come in to this and its not up yet crap! No worries just hit your friendly Mist button and wait for the cooldown to end and then Baw Swarm to safety.
One other note about using Mist and Bat Swarm, be aware of the situation you are in. If you are going to die from spit if you do not mist wait until you are safely in your base if possible so that he cannot just reapply the spit when you come out. Also try to avoid Misting right next to Regulus as he can lay mines under you and when you materialize you will find a fun suprise. Perfecting this will take experience, but once you do there will be days where you play a bunch of games and just never die.
That is really all I can think of right now, but feel free to suggest anything I left out and I will add it in. Also before anyone says that I forgot priest minions in the strat, that was on purpose because from what I have seen the way you move as erebus makes your priests die more than they heal you. Hopefully this will help some people enjoy the game more.
