Just think about it.
(I just want to say that I love Demigod, and I totally thought of all of this during a game where our Sim Speed was just abysmal.)
lol - yeah but the lag system is still better then other games. I hate telling my character to move and end up with a delayed response. I prefer choppy frames but at least my character moves when i tell her to.
Mmm, games where the lag makes it so you can't move AT ALL suck, whereas choppy frames merely gets on a person's nerves
Awesome shoop.
Come to think of it why's it like this?
If a player's slow at responding with packets they should get ignored and move on. Making it only lags for that player.
It's a system which manages to be both surprisingly considerate, and outrageously rude.
It's because it's a P2P connection. Company of Heroes or ANY RTS for that matter will have this same problem. RTS online gaming is much different than FPS online because in a FPS the server resolves the outcome of an attack move (shot, w/e). In an RTS the server cannot do this (not sure why, beyond me) so you must rely on the other person's connection.
Which in turn means that game has to run as slow as the slowest player because the other players can't continue the simulation without the data from them.
I love that line.
Are you advocating that if you were to pay more money, you would be able to get a better speed than everyone else, you capitalist pig?
Yeah, by buying a real computer and a real internet connection. Only in Communist Russia does game lag you.
lol
All I have to say is:
"Mr. Frogboy, tear down this lag."
I couldn't help myself LOL
Its still better then server based when the Host leaves.
Sins tried to route hosting to another player if the host left, but it was very much hit and miss.
Fortunately hosts tend to be the people who leave the least.
Ya, when a host leaves it is usually a problem with the game. Most people don't want to spend the time to get a game started just to quit.
