We'll I have been playing quite well lately, and moving up in pantheon (my favorite game type) with regulous. Normally I find that reg has all the tools necessary for defeating the Forces of Darkness with 1 exception, and that is Queen of Thorns.
For those of you not familiar with Pantheon, games right now are only 2v2, and if you are on the forces of light that means you can only be one of the following 4 heroes (rook, reg, sedna, oak) do you do not know who your ally is or what hero he will be, which means you need in most cases to be flexible in your strategy and able to defeat anyone on your own.
Well as I've moved up the ladder, I was in the top 25 last night until I met Siothrun. He plays a mean Queen of Thorns, and I just don't see how you can beat him. I'm pretty sure he starts out by buying totems and reselling them so he has a full army and gets shield first. This is where the problems first begin his army plus shield means that on a map 2v2 that he can control one side of the map unopposed for the first couple of lvl's.
In my game against him he went straight for a flag and I went for a portal on the left side of Leviathon. We both got our respective flags but he got the exp from the creep wave hitting lvl 2, while I was still 1. Usually this is no big deal but against Queen of Thorns this means out come the shamblers to his army. This is where things got interesting with only one lvl on me, he then came across to the portal where I was, and I ran back towards the fort and tower. This would stop any hero in there tracks this early on but not him. He just charged me with his army and shield up and proceeded to attach me all the way back to the citadel. Along the way he captures the gold mine, kills me, reshields himself (lost most of his army) goes up and gets the portal, he's lvl 4 now flush with gold, and goes back to base and buys and even better army. This set the tone for the match as I avoided him like the plague from that moment on. Needless to say he goes down the uproot path and completely starts to wreck towers.
Now I'm not a noob so I do go mines (not my usuall build) but it seemed necessary to deal with a general and his army. The problem is by the time I hit lvl 10 he's at like 12-13 and while my mines are wrecking his army he is just constantly summoning them back over and over. This lead to me catching up in lvl's quite quickly and I even passed him hitting 16 first, but it was to no avail. His ability to constantly summon minnions and push the base meant it was impossible to get the flags in the middle of the playing field. There warscore was 10 while ours was 6 and this lead to the downfall, as just when I thought we were turning the corner they upgraded to dark giants. We obviously didnt' even have catapults, so it was gg.
Now I spent some time thinking about how to counter this (I'm sure there is a counter) and the only thing I could come up with is parasitic egg. My question is does parasitic egg work on QOT when she has her shield up (which is always), and by work I mean do the minions take dmg if shield is up on QOT and I'm attacking her, or does shield negate dmg against all of them because QOT isn't taking any (absorbed). If iparasitic isn't a good counter then what would work?
I'm really at a loss for the first time on how to counter the QOT that is played to her full capabilities.
