I realise this is the publishers forum and not the developers, but since most of the community seems to read here ill post these ideas here.
Basically, the main problems of the game and community atm are ragequitting.
That if a person ragequits, then th ai comes in and people decide it is game over.
Another main problem is that quite a few peoples connections aren't up to the task of handling more then 5 connections (3v3) and so the developer/publishres ideal match ups, 4v4 and 5v5, arent able to be played out.
Also, as can be seen from the number of purchases vs the assumed number of online players, quitea few people are playing the game offline. The offline mode doesnt seem to have much polish, but it gets the job done for a multiplayer focused game to lack on the single player front.
My proposed solution to improving most of these?
A competition to allow people to mod the ai, allowing individuals to decide personalities and playstyles and parameters, with the winning entries allowed into the game.
For example, RTS games have specific playstyles for ai identified through different names. I think this is done to an extent in demigod, at least there are differnt names for the skirmish ai, im not sure if the playstyles differ. These can be named either by or after the person who creatse them.
Allowing for the community to come up with say, 2-3different kind of ai for each charachter, all with unique customised settings and parameters, and all tweaked to compete at a level similar to humans, would make this game much much more interesting.
If a known competant, randomly chosen personality ai is playing, most people wont be inclined to follow a ragequitter to suit.
If ai are competant enough to compete without needing bonus and extra settings, then to fill in the gaps for 4v4 and 5v5 will be much easier for the upload-limited.
