1 line of code to implement changes? are you kidding me?!, you realise how that one line of code influences a multitude of others?, It's not just a case of deleting binary numbers, It's a case of editing core engine defaults, addressing relations between the coding and also implementing balances to the entire game to make sure everything is working as it should.

I'm not making excuses for Stardock...but please dont be so naive to think that releasing patches to "minor" fixes is like robbing a bank on Uplink.

Stardock support is kick-ass.  The fact that the devs post directly to the users at all is basically a miracle, and the rate at which patches have been coming out far exceeds my expectations.

Don't get me wrong; I was dismayed that there were no replays, moddability, and limited skirmish options (why no FFA!?!?!) at launch, but the gameplay is solid and the patches are really hitting the big ticket areas so I'm still optimistic.

stardock = good, they understand professionalism and working with customers in a mature manner.

GPG = not so sure, im not very confident in their ability to release good gameplay fixes,patches,content. every single patch seems to bring out more problems. hopefully that will change very soon!

@ Somaz, you obiviously do not do very heavy coding now do you? Sure its easy to fix some of the smaller things such as balance because that is just a few numbers that get changed. But v1.1 was a lot about behind the scenes code fix up for better bandwidth allocation and such. And that stuff is not just changing a number here and there. So shut your mouth and get your facts straight before you start accusing people with your stupidity.

GPG tends to make awesome games with quite a few bugs in them. Given time they'll straighten as many out as they possibly can. But that takes time.

So no one in the entire beta of Demigod realised how unbelievabley bad the path finding was?

 Also I have to agree I think GPG (no not SD) are dumping the game, there are so many simple and major things they should of fixed before they released, and an even bigger list of things that should of and could of been fixed in the 2 months after the buggy release.

Yes the pathfinding is an issue.  Right now, my main complaint is TB's inability to attack while chasing someone.  I'm sure it will get fixed.

I think that Stardock will do their best to keep GPG working on this game.  I hope that they can get the game to the point where most people are happy with the product.  Just give it some more time.

Actually sometimes it IS only one line of code that can mess up a game. Such as lets say priests got set to heal 50% instead of 10% that is ONE NUMBER OF CODE. Now that is an easy fix but are you thinking of the real issue here. Finding the source to the problem can take a long time. Such as ai stopping and going stopping and going. While only one line of code MAY NEED to be changed to find that line they may need a lot of time.

Agreed. GPG is normally good about getting patches out as shown for Forged Alliance that kept getting patches (even if they took forever) several months aftyer it's release. Only the announcement of Supreme Commander 2 stopped it.

And only fire torchbearer can't attack while moving. I think this has something to do with the way his animation is.

Totally agreed. I tried to do some random map generation for Age of Empires once and it is IMPOSSIBLY HARD even to create the simplist map and get it to work as pleased. Not to mention all the triggers and specialized codes that need to be writen if anything new to the game is introduced.

I agree why haven't they fixed some of the smaller things but it may be because it causes a bigger issue. Hypothetically you could fix that sound glitch by having it just mute itself but it would still run in the background. Play multiple games and now you have 5 differant endgame sounds all looping in the background that you can't hear. Yeah you could say it was fixed but it isn't FIXED COMPLETELY. That would have an impact on you computers performance. The trouble isn't always fixing something. It is fixing it so nothing else is messed up.

Plus again in response to Windisch again. Stardock is a very good company in keeping the maker working on the game. GPG is generally a good company in balance. You have to think that there are 8 UNIQUE player to splay each with 4 active and 3 passive skills to balance. Thats 56 differant abilities needing balanced that still need to fit a Demigod's main concept yet be balanced. And connecting computer's through their firewalls and making sure they can connect is just as hard. Wouldn't you rather be able to play a buggy game then to have a perfect game you CAN'T play at all.

The publisher releases the product not the developer! The publisher pays the developers to fix the game.
