The build is very strong early on.  I'd say you want to avoid until level 3/4 mines and surge of faith.  And have someone save for an orb of veiled storms.  You really need to be able to insta blow up the army to completely counter this strat.

Erebus is the sole reason why I don't like doubles.

Which map, mode, and how far (level-wise) did you get before they started dominating? If you could afford to spend 5k on the Egg, I'm gonna assume you were already HP and mana-stacked to the max, with Priests bought. Did someone on your team feed them kills or something?

Did you fight 2v2, or 1v1? Reg seems like shite against Erebus, not to mention Erebus with tons of HP and bite, so that leaves you and Sedna. And with Sedna being the non-AoE DG she is, it's pretty much up to you to get lv3 Surge of Faith as soon as possible. 2x Erebus is honestly insanely good in the early game, especially on large maps when they can send swarms of minions against unguarded towers. Since neither Oak nor regulus can deal with them early on imo, it's an uphill battle until you've stacked so much HP that you can just ignore the minions and start piling on with Pentinence.

What you at least can do to get away early on, is to use Cloak of the Night and Shield. Shield will remove all your speed debuffs, and CotN puts you far enough away to safely get behind towers.

Yeah that's why I was saying go with surge of faith + orb of veiled storms as oak.  The problem is if they survive that they can pop the horn and regen the entire army back to full...  You really need two demis to defeat a fully upgraded minion army.  A fully upgraded one is very expensive though...  Queen and TB can counter them too due to having multiple aoes.

You can do essentially the exact same thing erebus can do.  Use spirits + melee + siege + priests + horn for favor and pentinence for armor debuff.  It's largely the same thing as erebus with relatively small expcetions.  Erebus can use bat swarm to escape, you can use shield.  His rolly pollys are free but you only have to spec 1 tree to get yours.  He has bite but you have pentinence at range.   ETc.. ETc..

The last setup here actually had a chance of winning. Regulus needed to continually snipe the erebus's to push them out of the lane so they would need to heal, and thus not be in the lane farming more minions. Picking up angelic fury would have been a decent long term counter to erebus (Essentially it forces him to wait for the cooldown on horn to expire before he can effectively attack any buildings).

Rook however, is the real threat to an erebus minion build. Not with towers, but with hammer slam. Maxxed out hammer slam can completely decimate the entire minion horde. Unless you are feeding the other team, the best hp those minions would have near game completion would be ~1600. The horn does nothing if those rollies die in one hit.

Still.. it's kind of silly that in pantheon you can randomly get stuck with a team that has no chance against this.. Hopefully the new lightside DG has some heavy AOE, or the minion buffs get scaled down a little.

Your Rook made the mistake of going Tower in a minion battle.

Edit: I've been trying to learn TB to counteract the constant spam of minion erebus in Pantheon (thanks a lot Shadow. You started this mess.) At the moment, I just faceroll my spells as the cooldown ends, but it's still rather effective.

An ooze-specced UB can do a number on them, too, with the constant large AoE DoTs, and the large attack speed penalty, severely limiting the damage the minions can do. There's a ring, I think it's Nature's Wrath? that gives every attack you do a 15% chance of dealing 250 damage AoE; on UB's high attack speed, that can eat through minions a lot. Throw on Post Mortem, and they'll drop in a big chain reaction.

However, to keep it simple I will simply state the easiest way to deal with a minion Erebus. Upgrade your towers to at LEAST the second damage and health upgrades at the citadel. When Erebus hits his Horn of Battle to attack the towers drop an AOE spell on them and the combined fire power will instakill his minions. For hero's that don't have any AOE upgrade your towers further. To put this into perspective maxed out towers can not only hold off, but kill fully upgraded Giant waves. If the game last long enough or you manage to somehow get enough gold, non AOE hero's can get something called Girdle of the Giants, 13000 Gold. Makes all your attacks AOE; Problem solved.


Still the best counter to this are Fire TB with staff of renewal or High DPS/Mines Regulus with early Slayers Wraps and BotS. Rook with Maxed hammer slam also works pretty good too; 2.1k damage ftw.
