What not to do in a game...Noob or otherwise.

And if your lost, speak up and let your team mate help.

So i'm not the best player, I'll happily admit it. I prefer to just enjoy my games then get all caught up with stats and how well one build does over another....i am even sure i have been the thorn in the side of many teammates...

But what i have not done is simply stand in one spot and do nothing whilst an enemy comes along and proceeds to kill me. All inside 1 minute of the start of the game.

Folks, this is not what you do...even if your a noob, you know enough to run...or at least fight if all else fails.

I recently played a Panth game. 2V2 on Cataract.....

Game starts and my team mate (Sedna) after plenty of shop time is still standing by the crystal. I by now have moved to the health flag (FoL). Team mate then walks to the exp flag and stands there, long after turning the flag. He stands there...lets a UB walk up and kill him.

No running, no healing (that i recall)

So obviously, inside one game minute I'm not happy, but can appreciate how overwhelming this might all be to a noob. So i ask "Noob mate?"

No is the response. Ok, well whatever...Bad luck I'll put it down to.

Until he runs right back out into UB and dies again!! Two deaths, two minutes.

At this point i'm telling him run not to fight.

After a few more deaths and a jab at me over my ping (it was a panth game, im AUS...i assume he was EU...but who can control connections in a panth game??) he rage quits.

Now if you are a new player and you play like that, fine. We all have to learn somewhere. But is it that much trouble to let your team mate know you are a noob and would like direction/help?

I mean really, no offense to my team mate but he had to be a noob.

Why not admit it. Too many i am probably still a noob. Just let your team mates know and they (hopefully) will help and guide you.

There is no point in walking into certain death simply cause your pride or ego does not alow you to say "i am learning this game".

It would save some hassles that's for sure.

Please if your new..speak up. Don't just stand there and die cause you have no clue as to what to do. Standing and fighting in SP mode may work well, but not against a human. Your only hurting your chances of playing a decent game (win or lose) and learning nothing.

We're not all asshole players, swallow your pride and speak up, let your team mates know where they stand and whatever happens....happens.

I'm still rather new to this game and I would always tell my teammates that I am in fact a newbie and tips and constructive criticism would be most welcome. However I would be upset if you called me "noob" as the word in today’s online gaming communities has grown to mean "idiot". I agree that new players should be open minded about their lack of experience when they join a competitive game however I also think that existing players should think a little about how they address other people.

Your teammate in question was probably distracted by real life^TM or some such since he wasn't reacting at all and that's bad enough in itself if he didn't tell you beforehand. Not reacting to your comments is kinda rude and don't belong in a team game. Maybe some more practice against the AI was a good idea for him.

Being new to the game isn't the issue. The issue is when your not even playing the game. I see so many players standing in a 2v1 with regulus or any DG. This is OBVIOUSLY A BAD IDEA. Understand that the game is at least attempting to be balanced, and literally under no normal circumstances can you beat 2 DG. If you are as powerful as every other DG, which probably isn't true if your new, how are you possible as powerful as 2 DG.

The best advice for new players is obviously don't die. In reality though, its understand to not be near damage at all, as best you can and for as long as you can. Every 3 or so levels from level 1 damage output about doubles. At level 1, Dg will be doing 200 - 400 spike damage. You only have 1500 - 3000 hp, its simple math. At level 4 your HP don't really grow by a large amount, but DG damage goes from 200 - 400 to 400 - 700. At level 7, it jumps again to 700 - 1000, and at 10 800 - 1200 is easily done by 1 DG in a 3 second span of time. Again, your life even while well equiped at level 10 is only 3000 - 5000.

Understand that as levels increase, your survivability decreases. While new to the game staying back and not dying will reward you way more than extending yourself into the battlefield beyond what you KNOW you can take.

For newer players I suggest playing Oak and erubus. These 2 characters have great survivability, and will enhance your ability to learn the game. Erubus in particular is strait up broken, learning him early on will get you good at every other character.

Get used to it. Forget about Demigod playerbase for a second and think about all the people that are in denial about most things. Even the biggest noobs in gaming will never think of themselves as noobs. Therefore, you will always get noobs entering pro lobbies trying or prove or convince themselves otherwise.

Whats worse is often times I ask a noob a simple request to cap flags and grab locks and get a defensive hostile reaction about how this map (cataract) isnt about flags.

We just need a more improved lobby interface detailing players experience, win/loss + additional filtering options to host for minutes played, win percentage, disconnects.

Yeah i can understand that. Not long after the above game i was in another game and was called a kind-of-noob...i didnt know how to answer, so to just give my team the best chance i just said "yeah..all help is appreciated".

I was given tips, some i knew, some some i didn't, and we won.

I know there can be some stigma to the word noob, but it only bothers players if they let it.

Learing Oak and Erebus early is great advice, since both can be the hardest to beast when you play against them with good players.

Small problem with showing ranks and or win/loss rations in lobbys ...

I wouldnt get into a single game =p Not that i suck, but i tend to find myself with these self proclaimed "pro" players in no noob games and end up losing badly ... having my 2 teammates having fed the other team about 20 kills by the end of the game while im at 1 or 2 deaths. Believe me, i have this alot.

So id end up having a terrible win/loss ratio (its still near 50% atm so.. not to bad ) but my rank isnt going anywhere. I`ll admit i dont even know how rank works in this game, but still

Ps. About the whole "noob" thing... Yeah its tottaly bad nowadays. You can make a noob game and people will know you are a new player (probebly), but being called a noob is never a good thing. In my eyes the word noob is a more experienced player who still plays like its the first time he picked up the game.. making silly mistakes left and right. But its hard to know when you;ve really grown out of "noob"hood and into the "pro" games

My biggest gripe at the moment is having to do things 3 and 4 times to have the game recognized I've done it..
