Dudes, no matter what setting i use, with nosound or not, the game lags ONLY with certain character on screen. That is, i can have a hundred units on screen with no lag and then some bugger appears and causes a major fps drop. The game then stops lagging only when the certain character is not on screen (if U move camera out, for example).
Its mostly the hero units (or whatever they are called) and it occurs after a while in game.
I found out that lowering fidelity during game helps temporarily, but it starts to lag pretty soon after that again.
I encountered similar issue in Company of Heores, but there it happens in like 1 game out of 1000.
New drivers help the situation a little bit, but i think its probably game's shaders, or a memory leak.
Or both
