I prefer not to quit, as long as I'm going to take something away from sticking around. I've played a very, very small number of games where our opponents where clearly an organised team who had lied about this fact and we were being defeated at every oppotunity and brutally beaten without mercy. In these cases, I've conceded. It's not poor sportsmenship, as long as the fact that you're going to lose is obvious to all involved. Just don't call others bad sportsmen for not opting out.

Well, if im going to quit first i flame the other team... and i do it untill they are good and pissed.

Then i start mouthing off at my team, and i do so untill they understand the reason we are losing is thier fault and not mine and to top it all off i sell all my gear buy the expensive pots at the artifact shop and just burn through all my money.

Then i run up to the enemy team and i let them know how much i fancy thier moms and/or thier sisters and possibly girlfriend/wife/mistress. Procede to be killed by them.

Then i say screw you jerkwads and rage quit.

But you will find i am much more a gentleman than most rage quitters.

Since we are on the point of having manners while quitting i think it would be appropriate to just turn the tv on for 10 minutes while sitting at the crystal before you go through my basic steps i previously mentioned.

And if you're going to lose or you're not having fun why play the game? Games are supposed to be fun, for some people winnign is the only thing that they find fun and so they wont stick around thats fine. The only thing i find ridiculous is early quits after a death in the first 5mins... does it matter. Alittle. Your other teammates can still capture enough flags not to get done in war score wise and the enemy only gains a small amount of gold. Just my two cents.

if i feel like quiting i wont, but i will make my team mates suffer if they dont concede when i advise them to by going AFK for the rest of the match, coz tbh if they ruin my gameplay experience by being stupid, they actually deserve to suffer for it.

I've had this exact thought last few days.

Basically, I concede (not just quit straight out) when:

1) It's obvious u've lost. A half decent player knows when he's lost to a better team.

2) In Pantheon, it's unequal teams.

3) The game is lagging like a madman.

There's nothing wrong with conceding when it's obvious. It's just courtesy not to waste time.

Nothing worse than some nub shouting about how he doesn't quit.

It's not clever, it's not 'heroic'. It's just utter stupidity.

I conceded a game tonight. My team 3x3 quit or was knocked off before the match started. I played for a while but was being out thought by the human opponents at every turn and my computer team wasn't listening to strategy AT ALL. I don't think anybody was offended. 

Concede.  I put quitters on my personal banlist.

imo this thread is not about people who at least _try_ to communicate (civilized). its about those who just quit or dont react if you try to talk sense into them.

yesterday i teamed up with 2 players of the clan bl for some random custom 3vs3 match. 2 noobs joined the other team and one other more experienced guy. i checked all the stats and told everybody in the chat before the game started that the teams were totally unfair and the noobteam most certainly would lose if we didnt change the teams but both noobs didnt care and the third one didnt say anything. it was clear after less than 3 minutes that the noobs stood no chance, but they had read the chat and agreed that they dont care. both didnt leave till the end. the third guy rage quit after a few minutes though it had been clear that he was in a team with two noobs with less than 5 games (together).

i think that the most important thing for a good game is that every player in game uses the chat - and not only for the gg. that way theres a higher chance that a player asks "do you think we can still win" before ragequitting and ruining it for everyone. then the team can decide together if they concede or not.

You mentioned that a system where by if the majority of players conceded the Team should concede the match rather than requiring every player on the Team to concede. I advised that if you truly felt you should leave the game, you have the avenue of just quitting and are not being forced to remain in the game if strongly feel you should leave. I also advised that to be kind, inform your opponents that your Team mates refuse to concede and that you are now going to quit. I assumed that, by this point, you would have already attempted to persuade your Team mates to concede.


The problem with your proposed system is if you're outnumbered in a game where you know how to win the match; the other team members would force you to quit and take a loss in a game where you could have won. This may sound like a far fetched scenario, however I've experienced this several times - a single Portal Lock in the right game can swing the entire match around.

In any case, as you mentioned, it's always a good idea to talk to your Team Mates. Always.

For me the fun of the game comes when you're still wrestling for a tiny advantage. When the game could still tip either way. In many games this period ends very quickly if there is disparate skill levels. This is the nature of Demigod as a game. I enjoy about the first 2-3 minutes after the scales tip IF I'm on the winning side. On the losing side I will still struggle for that same amount of time looking for any chance to turn things around. After that winning or losing I'm pretty bored.

If I'm winning I would prefer the other team just concede so I can move on to a new game. If I'm losing I will quickly conceede in a situation where winning is a <1-2% chance. Generally I reach this point when we're down 5-6 kills to 1 or 0, even or behind in warscore and our towers are falling quickly. Once the sales tip like that the game is decided so I don't see much point in playing and if my tema mates won't conceede within a minute or so I will generally quit.

I honestly don't understand why people WANT to continue playing after that point. Could someone explain it to me? And what value is there for my team mates im me sticking around if our loss is basically assured?

I don't rage-quit. At least I don't consider it a rage-quit, after all I'm not angry just bored, I don't curse at anyone or berate my team. I generally don't complain to the other team about my teammates lack of skill although I'll generally warn them I'm leaving and that my team won't concede. And then I leave. I don't see what is so bad about that.

There is an exception if *I* am playing exceptionally bad and my teammates are doing fine and want to keep playing I'll keep playing and try to pull myself together so I can give them a decent game as I feel they deserve.

Usually when we are behind and there is absolutely no chance our team will ever catch up i ask my partners if they want to conceede.Most of the time they will either agree or play it out a bit longer. If they want to keep going i have no problem with finishing the game.

If it is an obvious landslide then concede. If you are going to be silly about it by afk or by rage feeding, well eventually those noobs will get better at the game, and they will remember you...

 

In the long run all ragers, AFKers and (deliberate) feeders will find themselves with less people to play with.

Take oo7_warhammer for example. Last night he got killed after 2 minutes. He blamed me for his death.... So then proceded to order everyone to quit... we wanted to play it through win or lose, so we said "keep playing, it is not over"... He then fed the other team 17 kills by running into their base and giving the kill.....

Then he rage quit when we made it clear we were going to play it out.

When I check peoples stats I look at 2 things only: Games played and total disconnects. If you have over 20 diconnects I probably wont want to play with you. If you have under 100 games played then I would recommend an intermediate game instead.

Stacked, I know your skill is SUPER, but afk at the crystal is naughty. Just play it out or concede-quit IMO
