Back-story:
Once a upon a time, in a kingdom far, far, far, really far, away, there was a beautiful kingdom. The kingdom of Triste was full of dazzling sights and joyful people. The kingdom had just recently appointed a new king and his queen. The people celebrated and all was well. However, there came a time when the king fell gravely ill, and as it was custom, if a king dies before his wife without an heir, the lady was put to death for treason. So they decided to have a child as soon as possible. They tried for many nights but the king was to ill to achieve anything in bed. The couple became troubled, the king extremely sad, as his health grew worse, and the people grew more blood thirsty.
Truthfully the people of Triste had no idea of the troubles within the castle. They basically thought that the queen would not court with their beloved king, so they simply hated her; however, one of the folk knew very well of royal troubles. The man was a stranger and as he approached the king at his throne, the man explain of how much he was aware and proclaimed that he had a solution. The king, already in awe at how this man knew of a secret kept between him ans his wife, ordered the man to spill his thoughts or he would be forced to spill his guts, literally. The man told the king of how he knew secrets of The Ancients of The Deep. The wise king became a bit troubled at this, pondering on the strange before him. Surely the stranger must have had abilities of sorts, to know of the royal couple’s well kept secret. But how did the man know of ancient secrets? Did an ancient teach him? Did he somehow spy on them, which could mean that he spied on the king himself? Or was he a fallen ancient? Neither the less, the man spoke, and the king quietly heard. The man bluntly stated how his solution was the only one that would work and that the king should forget about looking for others. The king hardly cared much about looking for more decisions. He and the queen had lost much sleep over doing so, and were both ready to accept anything at all over death. The man proposed to sleep with the Queen, have a child with her, and the child would be theirs. The Kings depression absorbed his anger for the man’s disregards to ethics, but he still reacted to this preposterous idea.
“My wife and I have taught about having someone else court with her in my place, but where would we find some one so thrusting, for that one man could then dethrone me.”
“You will find your thrust in front of you. I must say that I won’t take your place. I simply need to satisfy my needs. I would love to court with someone of class, and you would love a son, which I assure you, that I can get you one. Win, win!”
“Perhaps, but it is still too risky for something so unethical.”
“Fine, then let me even the odds. As I have said, I am wise and know the secret of ancients. So I will brew myself a potion, take it, and make it effect the child’s development. As the child grows, he will absorb you illness. It will be in his blood to absorb everyone’s, even your whole kingdom!”
The King became enthusiastic and ran outside. He screamed to the people:
“Behold, your good king shall turn you into immortal entities. Never shall you be sick or dead. My Queen is pregenant and soon our child will bring you eternity.”
Once the king came back inside, the man told the king of the side effects:
“Well good king, the boy has a long life span, but eventually the sadness that he absorbs will kill him. The only way to delay his death his for him to release that sad on something every so often, so use him”
The royal couple went with the strange man’s plan and soon their boy was born. He was born blind and was so white that you could see veins on his face and hands very plainly. The king was struck with grief in accepting this monstrosity as his son, so he told his wife that he would leave the boy to die and would not care for him. The king ordered the wife to lock the boy away in the lowest dungeon chamber. She did so in tears, and every night she also cried as she brought her dear child food. Years passed by and the king’s health switched with the Queen’s. She was ill as he was. The king and the entire kingdom hadn’t aged a bit, coughed in months, sneezed in days. The people forgot about the boy and the queen, and only cared for themselves and their king. Everyone in Triste was joyful and healthy like before, except the boy and the queen. The king noticed how the Queen was just like the boy, the both got ill as the boy absorbed people’s sickness. He became furious, the man’s potion must have affected the queen as well! He ordered his gurds to bring the man, who was still living in the kingdom, to the throne hall. The king, queen, and child looked on as the man was taken in. The boy felt comfortable around the man, but also a strange sense of hate. The man proclaimed that he knew of the troubles, for his knowledge reached beyond the mountains and great waters. The king ordered the man to fix his wife or to have his head cut off. The man responded:
“King, you are wise! You knew of the future, for walking on a thin string of wool, and you decided to balance precious objects and to jump back and forth on that weak, thin string of wool. I would fix my mistakes; but king, I have made none!”
“I know the boy has to release the sadness, but who is it that should absorb this sadness? I think you should!”
“Dear king, when he does release it, I will not be here, I my powers may have weaked, but I can still flee.”
The classic exit, a *poof* of smoke and the man was gone. The child has received so much illness while the man was there. It was like the man used the child. The boy was at the peak of his absorbing ability and soon would absorb no longer. The man, weaker the any else in the room, was replenished quite well and made his ext. Then, the boy could no longer absorb any more illness, so he released it all on those who where healthy and joyous. In the kingdom, only he and the queen survived. The boy went out into the world releasing his sadness in order to keep him and his mother, who remained in the grey kingdom, alive.
